PIERER Power: KTM’s Parent Company New Distributor for CFMoto and MV Agusta

In recent news, PIERER Mobility AG is capitalizing on the age-old colloquialism, ‘money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy a motorcycle, which is kind of the same thing.’

Proof? In the pudding, of course; recently, KTM’s parent company bought a 25.1% stake in MV Agusta, calling the new connection a ‘strategic cooperation.’

The fine print included a purchase takeover by KTM, as well as two new Team Orange seats at MV Agusta’s board (via PIERER Mobility’s press release).

Now, the automotive industrial company has set their sights on CFMoto, claiming that they will “take over distribution of 11 CFMoto models in 5 lucrative European markets: Austria, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.K, as of January 2023” (via ADVPulse).

All this movement comes richocheting off of last year, considered to be PIERER Mobility’s best to date: 332,881 motorcycles were sold in 2021, showing off a +23% increase from 2020’s numbers (270,407).

Currently, PIERER owns KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas; now that MV Agusta and CFMoto have hopped on the distribution bandwagon, we can expect a wider diversity of bikes in our local dealerships, with PIERER’s 2021 revenue (€2,040 million, up 32%) likely continuing to feed inspiration for new bikes in new places.

Getting an electric bike will be easier than ever thanks to a new partnership between Octane and UBCO. (Anders T. Carlson/)

Octane Lending Inc. has announced a partnership with UBCO, an adventure electric bike company based in Oregon, to make vehicle purchasing easier for ebike riders.

Editor’s note: learn more about UBCO’s ebikes in the Front Wheel Burnouts and Utilitarian Fun: Meet the UBCO 2×2 article.

The deal gives customers a hassle-free path to purchase, with an easy online financing application and soft-pull tools that do not affect credit scores. These enhancements to the purchasing process along with the new relationship with Octane’s inhouse lender, Roadrunner Financial Inc., make it possible for dealers to offer competitive rates and even more flexible terms than before.

Octane has been in the business of optimizing powersports financing since 2014, giving dealers in numerous markets the tools and support they’ve needed to thrive.

“We’re thrilled to partner with UBCO to bring our seamless buying experience to even more enthusiasts and to fuel our customers’ lifestyles in an environmentally friendly way,” said Jason Guss, CEO and co-founder of Octane, in a company press release. “The EV industry allows us to merge technology, sustainability, and innovation while tapping into a rapidly expanding market and delivering on our mission to connect people with their passions.”

UBCO’s Chief Revenue Office Phil Harrison added, “UBCO wants to get more people on two wheels than ever before. Up to 92 percent of Americans currently don’t participate in powersports and we want to change that by providing approachable, easy-to-ride vehicles that expand powersports to the masses. Octane’s purely digital experience is a key part of the value proposition to our customers.”
