Defenition CE 04 E-Scooter Nearing Reality

If It Doesn’t Look Weird, It’s Probably Not Futuristic

The House of Monaco is taking more steps towards completion, with the BMW Definition CE 04 in its final design stages after it was unveiled in its standard version. We currently don’t have any technical specifications available to gloss over, but the pictures are interesting, to say the least.

Have you ever seen iRobot? This looks like something you’d spot in the background of the film. The new CE 04 is the perfect blend of futurism and modern technology. This unit is more of a showcase of the technical and visual potential of the House, and I’m not qualified to say if this vehicle could ever see the halogen-lit production lines anywhere in the near future.

The Concept Link was originally teased in 2017, and this actual prototype has managed to keep the visual elements virtually the same despite having drivable features and real technology incorporated into it. This version sees the same flat batteries incorporated in the sub-floor that the concept teased, so it’s great to see some of the technological concepts being explored and realized into actual practices.

On the visual side, this scooter has been decorated in a livery containing a Mineral White Metallic base colour with orange and flat grey accents. Many of the mechanical components were left in the open for some sort of visual juxtaposition and the front headlight assembly features two LED lower eyelids in addition to the main beams.

2021 Honda X-ADV Is Getting Some Updates

Ever wish your ‘maxiscooter‘ had offroad capabilities? Maybe it’s time to sell your current ride to pick up the newly updated 2021 Honda X-ADV (if you’re located in Europe, that is). The Euro 5 approved scooterbeast comes with a plethora of new updates such as more engine power, higher top speed, optimized gearbox, fly-by-wire throttle configuration, lighter frame, lockable glovebox and updated seat for riders to have an easier time resting their feet on the ground.

The same 745cc engine is found in last year’s model, except this time around Honda bumped the power figures and redesigned the engine to save 1.4kg of weight. The engine sees a  3.6 horsepower increase, bringing it to 58.6 horsepower at 6,700 rpm, and the torque sits at 69 nm (one more than last year). The engine’s rev-limiter has also been cranked an extra 600 rpm higher. 

Due to the introduction of fly-by-wire throttle control, the new model comes with four total riding modes: Standard, Sport, Rain, and Gravel. This is very important for ADV riding as different situations can call for different throttle configurations to make your life easier. The User Riding Mode allows for control over all parameters to create custom maps for your trip.

The 5 inch TFT display found in most of Honda’s 2021 models finds its way to this scooter, as well as all the smartphone-pairing, Bluetooth functionality that comes along with it.

Although the motorcycle doesn’t have a ton of visual updates, the few changes Honda sprinkled in managed to make this bike look far more luxurious and higher quality. Personally, I’m not a scooter guy myself, but I cannot deny that this thing looks absolutely awesome with the introduction of the new daytime running LED headlights.

The scooter comes in four colour options (red, black, silver and grey) and pricing will start at $ 13500.

A Glimpse of New 2021 Honda Forza 750 Scooter

The new Forza 750 large displacement scooter aims to replace Honda’s current Integra 750 for Europian buyers. We have seen some of the features in the previous teasers, but today we finally get a better look as to what the scooter is going to look like.

We’ve had a better look at the updated 2021 Forza 300, and it appears like the 750 is going to be taking quite a few design cues from its little brother and combining them with the current Integra 750.

It’s quite handsome for a scooter and appears as if it takes quite some elements derived from their more traditional motorcycles; most notably the headlight assembly as seen towards the end of the video giving it a sharper, speedy look.

As this video’s primary objective is to showcase the scooters ‘silhouette’ but unfortunately due to the dim lighting, we can’t get a good look at the 3d nature of the bike to bring out a well-rounded look to see if it compliments the odd shape stemming from the 300 variant, but maybe I just spend too much time looking at regular motorcycles every day and lack a trained eye to pick up on scooter nuances.

Some additional takeaways from the video include an inverted front fork setup and auxiliary lighting found on the side of the front fairing. If those lights are signals, props to them for having such a clean integration into the design of the scooter.

The livery of Vespa Primavera Sean Wotherspoon stands out for its 80s-style colour. In pure Vespa tradition, the body is made of steel, a distinguishing mark of the Vespa right from its inception.

The red foot board (in the same colour as the shock absorber), in plastic and with a blue rubber insert, stands out on the metal body. Wotherspoon has chosen a light brown ribbed velvet for the saddle. To this he has added a white finish and his distinctive street artist’s tag is placed on the front alongside the classic Vespa logo in white.

Suzuki’s Address 110 features a large 20.6 L underseat storage compartment which can accommodate a full-face helmet, gloves and a rain jacket, with two sturdy helmet hooks on each side allowing for helmet storage when parked.

Two storage pockets on either side of the front cowl add another 1100 ml of storage space, along with a convenient centre bag hook, ensuring you can securely hide away a phone or wallet while riding, and hang your shopping bags out of the way.

Hit-run driver sentenced on scooter crash

A 55-year-old Toyota Hi-Lux driver who hit and injured a woman, 34, riding a Vespa scooter last August before driving off has been sentenced in a Sydney court today.

Paul Andrew Brown was found guilty in May at a hearing in Burwood Local Court on charges of failing to stop and render aid, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and not exchanging particulars.

He was sentenced to undertake a 12-month intensive correction order, an 18-month community correction order, both supervised by Burwood Community Corrections.

His licence has also been disqualified for 18 months and he was ordered to pay a $600 fine for not exchanging particulars.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Wellbank and Spring streets, in Concord, about 7.45pm on 14 August 2019.

Police told the court the driver of the utility failed to stop to render assistance to the rider and continued to drive north on Spring Street.

The scooter rider, a 34-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Crash Investigation Unit officers found the ute parked in North Strathfield about 2.30pm the next day.

After a short foot pursuit, police arrested Brown and took him to Burwood Police Station were he was charged.

Spate of hit-and-run crashes

The incident follows a worrying spate of hit-and-run crashes leaving riders injured and dead.

In NSW, the requirement for those involved in a crash to remain at the scene until police arrive was dropped in 2014, even if a tow truck is required.

However, the motorists must report the incident to police and remain at the scene if anyone is injured.

If they don’t, police can charge a motorist with failing to stop at the scene of an accident which is considered a serious offence.

Depending on whether someone is injured or killed in the crash, the motorist responsible could face serious charges with up to 10 years in jail.

KYMCO add two Agility scooters

KYMCO Australia have released two new Agility models as scooters take another dive in the Australian market. 

The new models are the Agility City 125i 16+ at $3290 (plus on-road costs) and includes a top case, plus the Agility 300i at $6490.

Both models feature the larger 16-inch front wheel to avoid being bumped out of line over city potholes.

They arrive as scooter sales have dipped 12.8% in the second quarter following a 14.1% drop in the first quarter after a promising rise of 5.6% last year.

KYMCO Australia spokesman Michael Poynton says their sales were “flat” over the past two quarters.

“We saw a drop-off in our entry-level models, commonly used for food delivery, however an increase in our mid-range commuting models,” he says.

The Agility City 125i 16+ features a 4-valve, EFI 125cc engine that meets Euro 4 standards.

It also comes with longer travel suspension including a twin rear shock for a smoother ride and front and rear hydraulic disc brakes in a new combined braking system.

Integrated into the rear wheel of the Seat Mo’ eScooter 125 is a 9 kW electric motor that produces a prodigious 240Nm of torque that shifts the scooter from a standstill to 50 km/h in 3.9-seconds on its way to a top speed of 95 km/h.

The Seat Mo’ eScooter 125 has a range of up to 125 km on a single charge of its 5.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
