MV AGUSTA SECURES FUNDING TO EXECUTE ITS 5 YEARS PLAN

Varese, 2nd October 2019 – The historic Italian company MV Agusta, a global player in the production of premium motorcycles, has just announced its 5 years business plan.

The capital to support the execution of the plan, as well as achieve the consolidation and growth of the company, is entirely provided by the Sardarov family, MV Agusta’s shareholder.

The business plan aims at reaching a sales volume of over 25,000 motorcycles in the 5-years frame along with investments in both a new premium and medium capacity range, which will enable the company to extend the availability of MV Agusta products to more customers, thereby significantly increasing sales volumes.

In the three-year period 2019-2021 the industrial plan also provides for a strong investment in the global distribution network, focused primarily on Europe, Asia and the USA.

MV Agusta is starting production of the new “Hyper-naked” model, the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro, voted “the most beautiful motorcycle in the show” at Eicma 2018 as well as the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro. Both models will be produced in only 300 units, all of which have been sold-out online in just a few days. They will be delivered to customers over the next months.

After becoming the new Chairman of the Board and CEO in December 2018, Timur Sardarov has put together a new top management structure and has brought Massimo Bordi and Paolo Bettin into MV Agusta team.

Massimo Bordi, a renowned engineer and manager in the industry, has been appointed to the position of Executive Vice Chairman. Paolo Bettin, who has strong records in the financial restructuring of several industrial companies, is the new CFO of MV Agusta, while Giovanni Castiglioni will maintain an advisory role.

Timur Sardarov commented: “Over the next five years, MV Agusta’s attention will be focused on developing the sales and service network, while investing in product development and maintaining its efforts in digitalization and technological innovation. We are committed to deliver the best products and continue to be a benchmark in motorcycle industry in quality, design and technology. Finally MV Agusta has all the tools to do so” Sardarov continued: “Together with the management, we are working diligently to execute the business plan and achieve our objectives which will require an increase of personnel and dedication from all at every level of the company. This will also positively impact the local community in terms of employment and benefit the Varese-area related industries.”

Marquez’ match point history

The equation was simple: if Marquez left Australia with more than 50 points on his rivals, he would be Champion. The Spaniard had 43 on compatriot Lorenzo, but what followed was out of the ordinary. Due to tyre worries, a pit stop window was put in place for Sunday’s race but, Marquez failed to pit in said window, and as a result, the number 93 was disqualified.

2020 Yamaha MT-03 | First Look Review

2020 Yamaha MT-03 in Ice Fluo
Joining Yamaha’s Hyper Naked lineup for 2020 is the new MT-03, a naked version of its YZF-R3 sportbike.

Yamaha’s MT line of naked sportbikes—the MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10—have earned heaps of praise from Rider staffers since the MT-09 (formerly FZ-09) debuted for 2014. MT stands for “Master of Torque,” and with all three models powered by feisty engines with crossplane-style crankshafts, they live up to the name.

Light, compact and affordable, the 2020 Yamaha MT-03 is an ideal choice for newer, younger and smaller riders.

For 2020, Yamaha is adding a new model to its Hyper Naked family, the MT-03. Although it has the same aggressive, mass-forward styling as the larger MTs, the MT-03 does not have a crossplane-style crankshaft. Essentially a naked version of the YZF-R3 sportbike, the MT-03 is powered by the same smooth, counterbalanced, liquid-cooled 321cc parallel twin with a 180-degree firing order, whereas the MT-07’s parallel twin has an uneven 270-degree firing order that gives it a scrappy character.

The 2020 Yamaha MT-03’s LED position lights sit above a central LED headlight.

Inside the MT-03’s engine cases are carburized connecting
rods, lightweight, heat-resistant forged pistons and all-aluminum DiASil
cylinders that provide excellent heat dissipation. The fuel-injected, DOHC,
4-valves-per-cylinder engine has a 11.2:1 compression ratio, a 6-speed
transmission with a wet clutch and chain final drive.

The MT-03’s most distinctive feature is its position lights, a pair of thin, angled LED “eyebrows” where headlights would normally be. Instead, the main headlight is an inconspicuous round LED tucked into the center of the small front cowl. Further adding to the minimalist design are thin LED turn signals.

The 2020 Yamaha MT-03 has an all-digital instrument display which looks just like the one on the R3. If they are the same, then it features a bar tachometer, gear indicator, speedometer, engine temperature, fuel level, clock and switchable odometer, two tripmeters, oil tripmeter, fuel reserve tripmeter and average/instant fuel economy.

Connected to the diamond-type tubular-steel frame are a non-adjustable KYB 37mm upside-down fork and a long swingarm with a preload-adjustable Monocross rear shock. There’s 5.1/4.9 inches of front/rear suspension travel, and steering geometry is sporty with 25 degrees of rake and 3.7 inches of trail. Rolling on 17-inch wheels, the MT-03 has a single disc brake front and rear, and ABS is standard. Said to weigh just 373 pounds with its 3.7-gallon tank full, the compact bike has a 54.3-inch wheelbase and a 30.7-inch seat height.

Designer suggests electric Ducati Monster

Young designer Alessandro Lupo has designed an electric Ducati Monster to inspire the iconic Italian company to pursue a “new beginning”.

Ducati boss Claudio Domenicali rides a Hypermotard converted to electric power with a Zero FX powertrain and recently said the company is about to join the electric bike race.

Alessandro, who is a designer at exotic car company Pagani Automobili, says his “desire would be to work for Ducati”.Designer suggests electric Ducati Monster

After reading that Ducati wants to make an electric motorcycle, I thought the Monster project could be ideal,” the Panigale 959 rider says.

“Monster is the Ducati icon, so it could be a new beginning. I hope Ducati can see my idea and be inspired by it.”

An electric Monster also makes a lot of sense as most electric motorcycling in the near future is expected to be short distance and commuting, because of the limited range and long recharge times.

“Given the rumour of a Ducati interest in making an electric motorcycle, I wanted to imagine how this could appear if it became a reality,” Alessandro says.

Noticeably, he has retained chain drive, but it must be one gear as there is no clutch.Designer suggests electric Ducati Monster

Electric Ducati Monster

Here is Alessandro’s video and his electric concept in his own words:

Mixing the vintage style of the Cafe Racer, the beauty of the Ducati brand and the architecture of an electric motorcycle, I designed the Ducati Monster Electric Concept.

Aesthetically appealing; to give the sensation of speed, most of the volumes fall on the front.

This means that the tank is very low and almost invades the front wheel and the rear has no tail, so as to give greater optical lightness and make the tire appear even larger.

This presents the typical trellis frame fixed no longer to the engine but to the battery which, placed inside a carbon cover, becomes structural.

The tank, of considerable size, no longer has the traditional fuel reserve function. This becomes a convenient trunk to store the helmet and various objects. In addition, the “fake” tank is composed of two easily interchangeable side covers to update the style.

The bike, with the combination of materials such as ABS, brushed aluminum and carbon, creates distinct “zones” that at the same time form part of the same assembly.

The meticulous research of the details (like the components milled from full with angles of 45 ° and brushed) must give the perception of “premium”. A luxury that is now present in cars but not in motorcycles.

The cycling odds are more like a sport bike than a naked one, to make the most of a powertrain with lots of torque.

Ducati amps up

At a student event in Spain this year, the Ducati boss told the crowd: “The future is electric, we’re not far from starting series production.”

It’s no news that Ducati has been considering an electric model since about 2017 when a Ducati executive revealed they had electric plans for a motorcycle and a scooter by 2021.

In the same year, VW Group Chairman Matthias Mueller upped the ante saying Ducati would have an electric motorcycle “by 2020”.

Ducati has also collaborated with Milano Scuola Politecnica di Design (Design Polytechnic School) students to produce the futuristic Ducati Zero electric sports bike.
