2026 Triumph Modern Classics Family
The Triumph Modern Classics family is updated for 2026.

Out of 33 new and updated Triumph motorcycles to be announced for 2026, seven more have been released for a total of 17 so far. The models in the latest announcement comprise the Modern Classics range, including the T100, T120, T120 Black, Bobber, Speedmaster, Scrambler 1200 XE, and Scrambler 900, all of which receive updates.

All the bikes listed above except the Scrambler 1200 XE will get a new LED headlight, a USB-C charging port, and lean-sensitive Optimized Cornering ABS and Traction Control, which was already included on the Scrambler 1200 XE. Taking information from the IMU, this system adjusts braking and traction response based on real-time data that includes lean angle, speed, and more. The other updates are specific to each model.

In addition to the updates described above, the T100, T120, and T120 Black receive a couple new rider aids. Cruise control has been added to the T120 and T120 Black (available as an accessory on the T100), and the T100 now gets Road and Rain ride modes (already present on the T120s).

These classic models also receive new color options for 2026. The T100 will be available in Jet Black and Diablo Red with hand-painted gold coachline detailing, and the T120 will be available in Aegean Blue and New England White with hand-painted black coachline detailing. Both bikes will also be available in returning Stone Gray. The darker-themed T120 Black gets the new color option of Matte Silver Ice and Matte Sapphire Black, as well as the returning Jet Black option. They also feature a new circular graphic on the side panels, framing the Bonneville logo in silver or gold.

Everything else returns to the T-models unchanged. The T120s are powered by Triumph’s 1,200cc parallel-Twin, tuned to deliver 79 hp at 6,550 rpm and 77.4 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, with a 6-speed transmission. The T100 is powered by the 900cc parallel-Twin that delivers 64 hp at 7,000 rpm and 59 lb-ft at 3,750 rpm, with a 5-speed transmission. Both engines feature a 270-degree crank.

All three share a tubular steel twin-cradle frame and KYB suspension. The T120s include dual Brembo front calipers, while the T100 stops via a single Nissin front caliper. They each offer a 31-inch seat height and roll on Michelin Road Classic tires. They have dual analog instrument gauges with inset LCD screens.

The T100 will be priced at $11,495, and the T120 and T120 Black start at $13,995.

The Bobber receives a couple useful upgrades for 2026, in addition to the lean-sensitive Optimized ABS and TC and new LED headlight and USB-C port. A larger 3.7-gallon fuel tank adds range and includes a new filler cap, and the floating seat has been reshaped and is now wider to offer more comfort. It also gets new lightweight aluminum rims, and its bodywork has been updated.

Color options include new Interstellar Blue and Sapphire Black or returning Jet Black.  

Everything else returns unchanged. It’s also powered by the 1,200cc Bonneville parallel-Twin with tuning to deliver 77 hp at 6,100 rpm and 78 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, also using a 270-degree crank. It features a swing-cage rear suspension with a hidden monoshock to give the illusion of a hardtail, and front suspension includes a 47mm Showa fork. It offers Road and Rain riding modes, cruise control, adjustable foot controls and levers, and a single analog dial with an integrated LCD display.

The Bobber will be available starting at $14,795.

The Speedmaster’s updates, like the Bobber’s, are aimed at providing a more comfortable ride. It also receives the larger 3.7-gallon fuel tank and new lightweight aluminum rims. Unique updates to the Speedmaster include rider and passenger seats with wider bases and deeper foam, as well as a straighter handlebar. It also gets restyled metal Triumph badges.

New color options include Carnival Red and Crystal White or Sapphire Black and Crystal White, both featuring Empire Gold detailing.

In the Speedmaster, the 1,200cc parallel-Twin makes 77 hp at 6,000 rpm and 78.2 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm, with a 270-degree crank. It has a steel swing-cage rear suspension and a 47mm Showa fork and uses dual Brembo front calipers. Road and Rain ride modes are included, and it features an analog speedometer with inset LCD screen.

The Speedmaster will start at$14,795.

The Scrambler 1200 X and XE were updated for 2024, including changes to suspension and brakes. For 2026, the XE’s Marzocchi suspension is replaced with a fully adjustable 47mm Showa USD fork offering 9.84 inches of travel and fully adjustable dual Öhlins piggyback shocks.

Other than the suspension change, the only update for 2025 is a new color option: Matte Khaki Green and Matte Crystal White. The Sapphire Black color returns.

In the Scrambler 1200 XE, the 12,00cc Bonneville parallel-Twin features a dedicated “Scrambler” tune, putting out 89 hp 7,300 rpm and 81.1 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. It offers six ride modes (Road, Rain, Sort, Rider, Off-Road, and Off-Road Pro), cruise control, a full-color TFT display with design themes and layout options to choose from, backlit switchgear, and the MyTriumph connectivity system. It has Brembo Stylema M4.30 radial monoblock front calipers, a 21-inch front wheel, and a ribbed bench seat.

The Scramble 1200 XE will be available starting at $16,895.

The Scrambler 900 gets more updates for 2026 than the Scrambler 1200 XE, including changes to the chassis and electronics. It features a redesigned tubular steel frame and a cast-aluminum swingarm, as well as new 43mm Showa inverted fork and preload-adjustable twin piggyback shocks. Its new lightweight aluminum rims are fitted with Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tires, and it features a larger 320mm front brake disc with radial 4-piston caliper. A new instrument cluster includes an LCD display with an integrated TFT screen, and a Bluetooth module is optional.

The Scrambler 900 also features updated styling, with a more angular fuel tank that has a new filler cap, new side panels, redesigned heel guards, reworked twin exhaust system, slimmer fenders, updated fork protectors, a reprofiled two-piece seat, and a narrower rear subframe.

New color options include Matte Khaki Green and Phantom Black or Mineral Gray and Cosmic Yellow. 

The Scrambler 900 is powered by the 900cc parallel-Twin that makes 64.1 hp at 7,250 rpm and 59.0 lb-ft at 3,250 rpm with a 270-degree crank. It offers three ride modes (Road, Rain, Off-Road) and an approachable seat heigh of 31.1 inches.

If you’ve read our bike reviews on the Triumph Scrambler models and have been curious to try them out yourself, Sept. 27 is the day to do it. The Triumph National Scrambler Demo Day will take place at dealerships across the U.S. and Canada and invites riders to come test ride the Scrambler lineup.

During the National Scrambler Demo Day, motorcyclists will be able to test ride the Scrambler 1200 X or XE, Scrambler 900, and Scrambler 400 X or XC. Additionally, the first 20 riders to register at each dealer will receive an exclusive Triumph flip-top oil lighter.

The Scrambler 900 features a classic style with versatility, and it’s powered by a 900cc parallel-Twin. The Scrambler 400 X offers a more accessible and affordable scrambler-styled option, and the Scrambler 400 XC is new for 2026 and adds more off-road accessories.

The Triumph Icon Editions collection for 2025 includes seven Modern Classic motorcycles featuring a Triumph logo that dates back to 1907, along with special color schemes and hand-painted details. These limited-edition models will only be available for the 2025 model year, making them collectable models for true Triumph fans.

The Triumph logo has changed many times throughout the company’s history. The first was a shield in 1902, followed by a script logo in 1907, which was used for seven years. The design added “Motors” to the logo in 1915, followed by the return of the shield from 1902 but in color during the 1920s. In 1932, the logo changed by an oval globe. In 1934, the logo returned to the word “Triumph,” and it has evolved since. It’s the 1907 script logo that the company brings back for the 2025 Triumph Icon Editions collection.

The seven Modern Classic models in this collection feature different two-tone color splits of Sapphire Black and Aluminum Silver, with side panels finished to match the fuel tanks. Hand-painted coach lining traces the color-split lines in either black or gold. Each model also features the 1907 Triumph script logo in gold, along with exclusive Icon Edition model graphics. 

The Triumph Bonneville T100 Icon Edition ($11,745) features an Aluminum silver finish with Sapphire Black accents on the tank and side panels, with black coach lining. The Bonneville T120 Icon Edition ($13,695) has a Sapphire Black tank with silver accents and gold detailing.

In the Scrambler family, the Scrambler 900 Icon Edition ($12,245) has both black and silver on the tank separated by black coach lining, along with Sapphire Black fenders. The Scrambler 1200 X Icon Edition ($14,395) has an Aluminum Silver tank with black kneepads and two black tank stripes. The Scrambler 1200 XE Icon Edition ($16,095) has Phantom Black wrapped around both sides of the silver tank, along with gold lining to match the gold-anodized fork.

Triumph has mastered the art of efficient motorcycle design. One engine – a liquid-cooled 1,200cc parallel-Twin with SOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, and a 270-degree crankshaft – powers a diverse range of retro-styled models in the company’s lineup, including the Bonneville T120 retro standard, Speed Twin 1200 roadster, Bonneville Bobber, Bonneville Speedmaster cruiser, Thruxton RS cafe racer, and Triumph Scrambler 1200 X and XE. Different engine tuning and unique styling, chassis, exhausts, and features give each model a distinctive sound, character, and feel.

We’ve reviewed all of them over the years (most recently the Bonneville Bobber), and Triumph kicked off the first week of 2024 by hosting a launch for the updated Scrambler 1200 XE and new Scrambler 1200 X in Borrego Springs, California, a small town surrounded by the 1,000-square-mile Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

Triumph introduced the Scrambler 1200 platform for 2019, and it offered something few production scramblers did: genuine off-road capability. Whereas many scramblers are often styling exercises, the two Scrambler 1200 models – the base XC and the up-spec XE – were equipped with an Off-Road riding mode, tubeless spoked wheels with a 21-inch front, and ample suspension travel: 7.9 inches on the XC and 9.8 inches on the XE. Such tall suspension resulted in tall seat heights: 33.1 inches on the XC and 34.25 inches on the XE. While the XE had more bells and whistles than the XC, both models were more alike than different in terms of specification and price.

For 2024, Triumph has broadened the appeal of the platform by replacing the XC with the Scrambler 1200 X, which has a more accessible seat and a different specification that allowed Triumph to hit a lower price point: $13,595, which is $1,150 less than the 2023 XC. Although the XE has been updated and retains a high level of specification, its $15,295 MSRP is $900 cheaper than last year’s model.

On the X, a lower 32.3-inch seat height was achieved by reducing suspension travel from 7.9 to 6.7 inches, and an accessory low seat can drop it to 31.3 inches. The X’s lower price point is mostly the result of changes in suspension and brakes. Whereas the previous XC and XE both had fully adjustable suspension front and rear, with a Showa fork and Öhlins dual rear shocks, the 2024 models are equipped with Marzocchi suspension that offers full adjustability on the XE but only rear preload adjustability on the X. The former XC and XE both had Brembo M50 radial monoblock front calipers, while the new X has Nissin axial calipers and the XE now has Brembo Stylema calipers.

The Scrambler 1200 X has Nissin 2-piston axial front calipers. Metzeler Karoo Street tires are OE fitment, but test bikes we rode were shod with Michelin Anakee Wild 50/50 tires.

Previously, the XC and XE were both equipped with ABS and traction control, but only on the XE were both riding aids lean-angle-sensitive. For 2024, both the X and XE have cornering-optimized ABS and traction control, with a dedicated Off-Road ABS mode that turns anti-lock braking off at the rear and adds the ability to switch traction control off.

For 2024, the Scrambler 1200 XE’s Bremo radial monoblock front calipers got upgraded from M50 to Stylema.

As before, both models have throttle-by-wire and multiple ride modes – Sport, Road, Rain, Off-Road, and Rider (customizable) – that adjust throttle response, ABS, and traction control settings. The XE also has an Off-Road Pro mode that disables ABS and TC completely. All modes are selectable on the fly except Off-Road and Off-Road Pro, which require the bike to be stationary.

Let’s Go Riding! | Triumph Scrambler 1200

In late 2018, I flew to Portugal for the press launch of the first-gen Scrambler 1200, which included two days of on- and off-road riding. I spent most of my time on the XE, and I was impressed with how capable and versatile the bike was. Triumph loves to host press launches on the Iberian Peninsula because Portugal and Spain have fantastic riding and generally mild weather during the late fall and winter months. Contributing editor Kevin Duke flew to Spain last December for the Tiger 900 launch, and other Rider staffers and contributors will be heading to Spain in the coming weeks for other Triumph launches.

With its wide, flat seat and upright seating position, the Scrambler 1200 X and XE are both comfortable to ride, though they lack the wind protection that most ADV bikes offer. Handguards are standard on the XE and optional on the X.

Because North America got the Scrambler 1200 X and XE later than Europe (bikes are arriving in dealerships now), Triumph America hosted a launch on domestic soil, and it couldn’t have picked a better location than Borrego Springs. The town sits in a desert valley that’s surrounded by high mountains on three sides, and just a few miles to the west is the Ocotillo Wells off-highway riding area (and beyond it is the Salton Sea, California’s largest lake).

On the third day of 2024, still fat and happy from the holidaze, I saddled on up a Scrambler 1200 X for the street ride. The long, flat bench seat accepted my bulk without complaint, and the handlebar, which is 2.6 inches narrower than the one on the XE, was at an agreeable height. Perched atop the bar is a single round instrument that combines a monochrome digital display at the top and a color TFT at the bottom. It was a cool morning, in the upper 50s, and the X was equipped with accessory handguards but not accessory heated grips. Luckily, I was wearing Fly Racing Ignitor Pro battery-powered heated gloves.

Firing up the bike, the parallel-Twin’s 270-degree crank produced a lively, rumbling exhaust note. The 1,200cc mill has a unique “high power” scrambler tune that makes a claimed 89 hp at 7,000 rpm and 81 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. For 2024, Triumph switched from dual 45mm throttle bodies to a single 50mm throttle body and revised the exhaust header for improved flow, which broadens the spread of torque in the upper rev range.

We hustled our way up San Diego County Road S22, a dramatic, winding byway that climbs from 600 feet to more than 4,000 feet in 10 miles. Because we’d be riding off-road during the launch, all the test bikes were fitted with Michelin Anakee Wild 50/50 adventure tires, which are OE-approved for both the X and XE (standard fitment are Michelin Karoo Street tires on the X and Metzeler Tourance on the XE). Riding at a spirited pace, the Scrambler 1200 X comported itself with reassuring stability and reasonable agility, but in tight corners I found myself dragging the footpegs sooner than expected.

Reaching the mountain pass, we were greeted by dark clouds and steady winds, and soon we were riding in cold rain. Damn. The same thing happened during the Scrambler 1200 street ride in Portugal, but at least this time I was wearing waterproof apparel. Our planned ride to the top of Mount Palomar was scrubbed because it was socked in with fog and getting covered in snow. After an extended coffee break to dry out and warm up, we retreated to Borrego Springs for a hot shower and lunch.

In the afternoon, we charged back up S22 for photos, which gave me an opportunity to ride the XE. Its wider handlebar opens the cockpit, a configuration that better suits my simian arms, and the taller suspension adds valuable cornering clearance. The additional suspension stroke results in more squat under acceleration and more dive under hard braking, but the chassis pitch is smooth and predictable. The Brembo Stylema calipers – some of the best binders in the biz – ratcheted up power and feedback at the front lever.

Dry, warmer roads allowed us to push the Scramblers harder in the afternoon than we did in the morning. The pleasantly lumpy Twin provided reliable grunt at nearly any rpm, and gear changes felt as light and smooth as buttercream thanks to the slip/assist clutch.

After dinner at Carlee’s, an old-school dive bar and grill in the heart of Borrego Springs, we awoke the next morning to bluebird skies. The ride leader for my group on both days was none other than Jeff “Six Time” Stanton, who won six AMA 250cc motocross and supercross championships between 1989-1992. He now runs Jeff Stanton Adventures, a Michigan-based ADV training and touring company that uses Triumph Tigers and Scramblers. During the pre-ride briefing before our off-road ride on Day 2, he assured us that the route would be a walk in the park, which for a middling off-road rider like me meant it would be challenging. We were in the desert, which meant sand. Lots and lots of sand.

The Scrambler 1200 X is just as capable off-road as the XE, but its reduced suspension travel is less forgiving of hard hits. All test bikes we rode were equipped with accessory engine guards.

Within a few minutes of leaving the hotel, we turned off the pavement and onto a sandy track. We paused briefly to switch over to off-road riding modes. I was on the XE and selected Off-Road, which turns off rear ABS and reduces traction control intervention. In the soft stuff, the TC light kept flashing and killing my drive. After struggling for about a mile, I stopped and realized I was still in Road mode. On the Scrambler 1200s, the mode button must be cycled to select the desired mode, and then the menu joystick must be pressed to confirm the change. I had overlooked that second step. Frustrated as I was by the TC intervention, I selected (and confirmed) Off-Road Pro mode (all nannies off, game on) and pinned it.

In no time, I was up on the pegs, elbows out, gassing my way down sandy two-track and wide-open washes doing my best impression of Malcolm Smith, and having the time of my life. Sand is one of those surfaces that, if you can accept it rather than fight it and embrace the “gas on, brain off” riding style, brings special rewards. Keeping a light grip on the handlebar and bodyweight to the rear, letting the front tire float and find its way, and steering by weighting the pegs allows the bike to glide over the sand. At just over 500 lb wet, the Scrambler 1200 XE is more than twice the weight of dirtbikes that typically ply sandy trails, but with enough speed, it becomes a true desert sled.

After the sandy washes of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, we entered the Ocotillo Wells OHV area and chased each other across sandy plains through Devil’s Slide, up and down steep hills and ridges near Shell Reef, and north through a rocky, hilly landscape to the Badlands. After working our way through the Arroyo Salado sand wash, we entered the tight, narrow, winding Tierra Del Sol canyon, which wasn’t much wider than the deeply rutted two-track trail at the bottom. We carved our way along the ruts like following a narrow bobsled chute, keeping our speed up to avoid getting bogged down in the sand.

By that time, we’d been riding for a few hours, and I was getting fatigued. A last-second twitch of the bars to dodge a big, embedded stone put me on a collision course with another one. I took a low-speed digger into the sand, which was a relief because it gave me a chance to catch my breath. Right behind me was Fred Britton, lead instructor at Jeff Stanton Adventures, who had been on my six riding a 650-lb Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer, making it look easy. He helped me pick up the fallen XE and encouraged me by saying “You’re doing great!”

After climbing back on the XE and climbing out of the canyon, we did photo passes on a jeep hill with sandy approaches. During all photo stops, we did passes on both the X and the XE, which provided an opportunity for quick back-to-back comparisons. Launching them off a jump gave me more appreciation for the additional suspension on the XE to absorb big hits and landings, but I also liked the extra steering leverage of its wider handlebar.

After the morning’s off-road ride, our big group crowded around a long table in a dark, dingy back room at Alamo Mexican Restaurant in Salton City for lunch. Over stale chips and watery salsa, everyone talked loudly and excitedly about the ride, the route, the challenges, the fun, and how well the Scrambler 1200s performed. While most preferred the XE for the off-road portion of the ride, some appreciated its more compact feel and lower center of gravity.

Based purely on the riding experience, I’d pick the XE over the X. Its larger size better suits my large frame, and its additional cornering clearance on the street and extra suspension stroke in the dirt are big bonuses. Its top-shelf brakes, Off-Road Pro mode, and up-spec full TFT display also make it more desirable. But for those who spend most of their time on pavement and wants or needs the lower seat height, then the X will better fit their needs – and they’ll save $1,700.

Regardless of model, what I’ve loved about the Scrambler 1200 platform since it was first unveiled in 2018 is its drop-dead gorgeous styling. With its high pipes, round headlight, sculpted tank, bench seat, and spoked wheels, it has the undeniable magnetism of a classic. But hidden beneath the surface is a full-on adventure bike equipped with the latest tech. Without the physical and visual bulk of the bodywork that most Transformer-like ADVs have, the Scrambler 1200 looks and feels lighter while also conveying a carefree spirit.

2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 X and XE Review | First Look

2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 X 1200 XE

Triumph recently unveiled two models in its 2024 Scrambler lineup: the new Triumph Scrambler 1200 X, which will replace the outgoing 1200 XC and is a bike the company is touting as more accessible in terms of both functionality and cost, and an updated Scrambler 1200 XE.

Both Scramblers feature the same liquid-cooled 1,200cc parallel-Twin with SOHC and a 270-degree crankshaft. Triumph says peak power and torque now arrive slightly earlier in the rev range than previous models, with a claimed 89 hp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 81 lb-ft at 4,250 rpm. A new single 50mm throttle body and revised exhaust headers deliver improved flow and a broader spread of torque through the upper rev range, from 5,000 rpm through to the redline. At the unveiling of the bikes, Alastair Fairgrieve, Triumph’s global product marketing manager, said the revisions to the header also reduce heat to the rider, “in addition to the significant improvements already introduced in that area in 2021.”

Both bikes have throttle-by-wire, a 6-speed gearbox, and a slip/assist clutch. Riders can choose between five ride modes – Sport, Road, Rain, Off-Road, and Rider Configurable – with the XE offering an additional Off-Road Pro mode.

For suspension, Triumph has moved away from the Showa and Öhlins suspension and is now using Marzocchi components on both bikes. The Triumph Scrambler 1200 X features a road-biased 45mm inverted fork and preload-adjustable twin rear shocks with piggy-back reservoirs. Travel is 6.7 inches front and back, down from 7.9 inches on the outgoing XC. The 1200 XE has a more off-road focused setup, with fully adjustable components front and back, including more compression and rebound increments, and offering 9.8 inches of travel.

Triumph’s Tiger 900 models also use Marzocchi, and Fairgrieve called the company “the go-to guys,” adding that Triumph was “really confident that they could deliver a great setup.”

Stuart Wood, Triumph’s chief engineer, echoed this sentiment later during the unveiling. “We had a really good experience working with Marzocchi on the Tiger 900s,” he said, adding that Triumph was similarly pleased with the outcome on the Scrambler 1200s. “The benefit is 100% for the rider and the owner in terms of value. It’s helping us maintain that price point.”

Beyond making the bikes accessible from a pricing standpoint – the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X is priced $1,150 less than the outgoing XC – another area where Triumph representatives said they received considerable customer feedback is in the area of seat height. While the XC had a 33.1-inch seat height, the new Scrambler 1200 X drops it almost an inch to 32.3 inches – or 31.3 inches with the accessory low seat.

Wood said this is a tradeoff for suspension travel on the X, but when combined with the XE, which has a 34.3-inch seat height, it actually creates more options.

“Somewhere between the ground, the footpegs, and the love of suspension travel, you get the seat height,” he said. “So now we’ve got choice, and that’s what it’s all about. It broadens that choice, and more people can choose to get involved [in riding].”

Fairgrieve added that it creates a “really nice walk across the range.”

“We start down at the 400 X in the scramble range, move up to the 900, and then we’ve got a really nice ladder up to the full 1200 low seat height [on the X] and then the XE if you really want to go off-road have fun.”

When it comes to stopping power, the XE boasts twin Brembo Stylema radial monoblock 4-piston front calipers clamping down on 320mm floating discs. The X has two 310mm discs and 2-piston axial calipers. Both bikes have a single-piston rear caliper and 255mm disc, as well as cornering ABS (switchable on the XE) and switchable cornering traction control.

Both bikes share the same tubular steel frame, as well as side-laced stainless steel wire-spoked wheels (21 inches in front, 17 in the rear) with aluminum rims shod with tubeless Metzeler tires: road-focused, dual-purpose Karoo Street on the X and Metzeler Tourance on the XE.

Some key ergonomic differences include different handlebar designs, with the XE measuring 2.56 inches wider than the X. The XE also has reversible risers as well a removable spacer for a 0.39-inch height adjustment. The XE also boasts adjustable foot controls to suit a variety of riding styles and footwear.

Both bikes feature a twin-sided, cast aluminum swingarm, with the XE’s swingarm coming in 1.26 inches longer than the X for more control and confidence on difficult off-road terrain. And for improved touring capability, Triumph offers an accessory high “Dakar” screen and rugged luggage system with tailbag accessory options offering 102 liters of total capacity.

The Scrambler 1200 X features a hybrid multifunction LCD/TFT display incorporated in an circular instrument dial, and the XE has an integrated and customizable full-color TFT display with two design layout themes, each with a further three options to change the level of information displayed.

From an aesthetics standpoint, both models feature a classic one-piece ribbed bench seat – black for the XE and brown for the X – and a variety of finishes and details, including sculpted side panels with a brushed aluminum Scrambler 1200 badge, the iconic Triumph triangle tank badge, a brushed aluminum Monza-style filler cap, and a brushed stainless tank strap. The XE is finished with brushed aluminum fenders, while the X features high quality painted fenders.

The 2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 X will be available in Carnival Red, Ash Grey, or Sapphire Black starting at $13,595. The Scrambler 1200 XE will be available in Phantom Black & Storm Grey, which features red accents, the new Baja Orange & Phantom Black, or the popular Sapphire Black starting at $15,295. Triumph 1200 Scramblers look high-end and highly capable

Triumph have taken the Scrambler big-bore for 2019 with an 89 hp version of the 270-degree 1200cc Bonneville engine housed in a stripped back retro Scrambler format that seeks to marry modern technology with classic styling.

The engine seems to be tuned with big-bore thump in mind. A 7,500 rev limit cuts in only 100rpm after the claimed 89 horsepower peak, while the maximum twist of 110 Nm hits its fattest at not much more than half those revs, 3950 rpm to be exact.

Triumph mention ‘low inertia’ in the press blurb so we presume that the 97.6 mm pistons swing off a somewhat lighter 80 mm crank throw in comparison to the Bonneville. Those aforementioned power figures are 12.5 per cent more than the T120 Bonneville, and 38 per cent more than the smaller engined 900 cc Street Scrambler.

Out of the two models it is the XE that has the more serious off-road chops with a very generous 250 mm of suspension travel compared to the also quite long 200 mm travel of the XC model.

Showa provide the fully-adjustable forks on both models with the XE boasting 2 mm larger stanchions in gold compared to the 45 mm black items found on the XC.

The tubular steel frame is all new for the Scrambler 1200 platform and combines with aluminium cradles. While the XC has a 547 mm long swingarm, the XE gets a much longer item at 579 mm. The longer swingarm should help the bike be more manageable in the slippery stuff, and also make it easier to slide!

The XE also scores a higher spec ABS and traction control system with lean-angle functionality thanks to an internal measurement unit (IMU).

The XE also gains an extra Off-Road Pro mode to add to the Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and rider customisable modes present on both bikes.

Folding and adjustable foot controls are also exclusive to the XE model as are the braced alloy hand-guards and heated grips.

Both bikes feature Triumph’s latest generation full-colour TFT screen with optional bluetooth functionality.  The bluetooth system not only allows for turn-by-turn navigation to be displayed when partnered with your phone, but also music and voice controls for your intercom system.

The navigation prompts are a first for Triumph that debuts on these new Scramblers.  We have seen this great new technology on a few new motorcycles now but Triumph have gone further and implemented an integrated GoPro camera control system!

As we recently have noted when testing some of the latest Triumph models, the brand is definitely positioning itself further up in to the premium category of motorcycles.

Thus I would expect these new Scramblers, especially the very highly appointed XE model, to be priced north of 20k, but hey maybe Triumph will surprise us..?   Both new models are expected to arrive in Australia late in the first-quarter of 2019.
