ZERO MOTORCYCLES LAUNCHES SPECIAL, LIMITED-EDITION DSR AS PART OF 15th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

$500 from each sale will be donated to the National Forest Foundation in honor of Earth Day 2021

Zero Motorcycles, the worldwide leader in electric motorcycles and powertrains, today launched a special, limited-edition DSR in celebration of its 15th anniversary. In commemoration of Earth Day, $500 from each special, limited-edition motorcycle sold will be given directly to the National Forest Foundation. The campaign is designed around Zero Motorcycle’s continued effort to help to preserve Earth’s natural treasures, and to encourage customers to spend more time outside.

As the pinnacle electric motorcycle build for dual-sport adventures, lack of noise and exhaust position the DSR as the perfect vehicle for riders to experience the world around them. The limited-edition DSR is available in five, nature-inspired colors.

“Zero was founded with a passion for off-road motorcycles that could be ridden in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It has been our mission to transform the riding experience with pure electric vehicles, and a passion for conservation is deeply rooted in our DNA,” said Sam Paschel, Zero Motorcycles CEO. “Our bikes are an incredible way to experience off-road riding, including in America’s National Forests, and we stand with the National Forest Foundation in their mission to guarantee access to those lands for future generations.”

The proceeds of the donations from these limited edition DSR units will be divided between National Forest Foundation projects that improve, restore, and make ecologically sustainable trail systems for Powersports enthusiasts across the country. These projects are aligned with Zero’s vision for increased access to America’s public lands for riders everywhere.

“We are excited and grateful to partner with Zero Motorcycles on projects to improve outdoor experiences and restore our National Forests. Our public lands are amazing places to explore and recreate and we appreciate a commitment to help us steward them from an innovative company like Zero,” Said Dayle Wallien, Conservation Partnerships Director for the National Forest Foundation.

The special edition DSR lineup will be available for order in limited quantities starting today, while supplies last, through all US Zero Motorcycle dealers. These 15th Anniversary models are powered by the heralded Z-Force 75-7 motor capable of 116 ft-lb of torque, 70 hp, a top speed of 102 mph, and up to 163 miles of range per charge and sell for $15,495.

We test two new models from Kawasaki: the KLX300 dual-sport (MSRP $5,599) and the KLX300SM supermoto (MSRP $5,999). Both are powered by a 292cc DOHC liquid-cooled four-valve fuel-injected single borrowed from the KLX300R off-road bike.

The KLX300 dual-sport is equipped with off-road-ready 21- and 18-inch wheels shod with Dunlop D605 knobby tires, a 43mm USD fork with adjustable compression damping and 10 inches of travel and a fully adjustable gas-charged Uni-Trak shock with 9.1 inches of travel. It has a 35.2-inch seat height and weighs 302 pounds wet.

The KLX300SM has 17-inch wire-spoke wheels shod with IRC Road Winner RX-01 rubber. Compared to the KLX300, the SM has stiffer suspension damping, less suspension travel, taller final-drive gearing and a larger front rotor.

Road Test Editor Nic de Sena spent a full day testing each bike, on public roads, at an OHV park (on the KLX300) and on a kart track (on the KLX300SM). He had a ball and says these bikes are great for newer riders or for those who just want to have fun on a budget. Check out his video review below:

The Bad Editor, Collected Columns and Untold Tales of Bad Behavior

Well, most people didn’t wind up in “motojournalism” because they were geniuses or paragons of virtue or anything. More like failing upward, in my own case at least. Or is that downward? The whole profession reminds me of Mark Twain speaking about Congress: “Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.” Say, I wonder if I’m in the book? I have a good Peter Jones tale or two if needed.

The Bad Editor press release:

Motojournalist Peter Jones tells all in The Bad Editor, Collected Columns and Untold Tales of Bad Behavior.

This 250-page book reveals the story of a motojournalist’s life in the USA motorcycle industry, told through 30 collected columns and 19 new tales of revealing bad behavior.

The 30 Collected Columns in this volume first appeared, in slightly different forms, in SportRider magazine, American Roadracing magazine, Motorcycle Street & Strip, Speed.com, and Motorcyclist. The 19 Untold Tales of Bad Behavior are original to this book, written to be revealing irreverent entertainment for motorcycle enthusiasts. No names are mentioned, brands identified, or world problems solved. These Untold Tales are written as fun inside stories of bad behavior by the author, his cohorts, his enemies, and, yes, some corporations.

This is the first published collection of moto-writings by Peter Jones, a familiar voice to many motorcycle enthusiasts due to his 20-plus years of motorcycle reviews, columns and lifestyle editorials in numerous periodicals. Jones is known for being a dubious writer of poor judgment who can be entertaining.

The Bad Editor is available now from Amazon in print ($18.55), or Kindle eBook ($7.99). Sample chapters and news of book signings can be found at www.thebadeditor.com.
