TAG Racing Joins Honda Racing UK For 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship

TAG Fireblade Hoo-Rah

With Triumph recently confirming their interest in pursuing victories in the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, it appears like the big move has attracted some other popular names in the racing world to shake things up in the series.

TAG Racing is no stranger to motorsport so it should be a game-changer to have Honda Racing join forces with them with the addition of some shiny Fireblades for their riders to saddle-up on. TAG Racing will be blessed with telemetry data from Honda as well as new parts as they are developed and tested.

The new Fireblade will be ridden by Dan Linfoot after his successful debut racing year in the series.

“Being back on a Honda is very exciting for me, it goes without saying the new bike is very impressive, what Andy and Glenn did with it last season was very impressive and hopefully we can carry that on into the new season with the support from Harv and the Honda Racing UK team.” said Linfoot.

“I can’t wait to get going now, it’s an exciting project to be a part of and everyone in the team is fully focussed on getting back to where we both know we can be,” he continued. “From the conversations I’ve had with Shaun the bike is brilliant out of the box, so I’m very confident the superbike will be even better.”

Hopefully this new partnership will bring a new outlook to the TAG Racing team after a miserable 2020 season development ending prematurely due to ongoing issues with their Yamaha R1.

The racing season will start at Oulton Park, May 1st 2020.

Unreleased Triumphs Hit the US: Triumph Trident 660 & Tiger 850 Sport To Be Released In 2021

Motorcycle Shows Cancelled Across the United States

It’s no secret that there have been some cancellations of major exhibitions across the country. This hurdle had to be overcome for motorcycle manufacturers across the globe. Per autoevolution.com, Triumph had planned a “New Product Tour” but with a global pandemic, they’ve had to adapt and change their original plans.

While there will not be any test rides of the unreleased Triumphs, they will be travelling across the nation to Triumph dealerships. These bikes are the only two sets of the Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger 850 Sport, outside of Europe. “With the cancellation of the motorcycles shows, it was an obvious choice for us to get these in the hands of as many dealerships as possible.” Adam VanderVeen – Marketing Director, Triumph Motorcycles America.

The Trident and Tiger will be following a scheduled trip across the US that you can follow via the TriumphOnTour website.

When Can I Own One and for How Much?

The Triumph Trident 660, a beginner to intermediate naked styled bike will be available for purchase January 2021. The Trident is currently listed at $7,995.00 USD per the Triumph website. Not a bad price considering the 10,000 mile / 12 month service interval, giving you a lower ownership cost overall.

Now for the Tiger 850 Sport, a new addition to the Triumph Tiger family. It has been specifically developed for road focused versatility. The Tiger is currently listed at $11,995.00 USD, a fair price considering the impressive specifications it carries. Triumph should also be released January 2021.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has formally announced that Jo Shimoda has joined its team ahead of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Shimoda was one of multiple riders who lost their seat when Geico Honda closed, instead finding a home at Pro Circuit following a recent try-out for the position.

“Honestly, I wasn’t too sure what next year would look like for me, but thanks to the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team and Mitch Payton, I couldn’t be more excited for next year,” said 20-year-old Shimoda.

“It feels really good to be with such an iconic team like the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki race team and to know that they believe in my ability enough to give me a chance this year. I was able to test the all-new KX250 a couple of times and on my first day, I was over jumping everything because of how fast it was! I am just really thankful and excited for this opportunity and I plan to make the most of it.”

Pro Circuit owner Mitch Payton added: “Jo Shimoda became available late last season. We feel that with his tremendous talent and the new 2021 Kawasaki KX250, it will be a recipe for success.

“Jo showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie supercross season and finished out the motocross season with a career-best moto podium finish. We’re looking forward to Jo mixing it up with our four other talented riders and seeing them all work toward their goal of becoming a champion next season.”

Shimoda will line-up alongside previously-announced Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki 2021 roster of Austin Forkner, Jordon Smith, Cameron McAdoo and the most recent Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green amateur motocross graduate, Seth Hammaker

MV Agusta Teams Up With Motorsport Legend Alpine For Superveloce Limited Edition

Not included in the press release below is the fact that, starting in the 2021 model year, all the MV Agusta three-cylinder platforms will benefit from upgraded electronics, including a six-axis IMU, Continental Cornering-ABS, launch control, rear lift mitigation, traction/slip control, front lift control (MV emphasized this was different from wheelie control in that it maximizes drive from the rear wheel instead of managing wheelies. Take that with a grain of salt if you wish).

The frame’s side plates are also stiffer, contributing to the chassis’s overall increased rigidity. Spring rates and valving are also slightly different to the standard Superveloce, according to MV Agusta’s director of R&D, Brian Gillen.

Lastly, the Superveloce Alpine edition, along with the rest of the three-cylinder family, will feature connectivity in the form of the MV Ride App. This allows for seamless integration of navigation, social features, and community building. It can also allow for performance tracking, say, at the race track, with data acquisition.

Pricing for the North American market had yet to be determined as of press time. -TS

Begin press release:

MV Agusta is joining forces with Alpine, the iconic French manufacturer of racing and sports cars, for the design and production of a 110-units limited series bike inspired by the Alpine A110. The Superveloce was a natural choice for this project as it perfectly embodies the spirit of the A110, sharing the same timeless elegance and offering unique riding emotions on any road.

The collaboration draws on the common passion of both MV Agusta’s and Alpine’s fans for breathtaking design and beautifully engineered products. Both companies also share a glorious history in competition, and an aspiration to create unique emotions for their customers through innovative, forward-looking solutions yet remaining true to their roots.

The Superveloce Alpine will feature MV Agusta’s signature inline 3-cylinder engine, with 147 hp at 13.000 rpm for top speeds of over 240 km/h, and will come with a host of dedicated accessories. The graphic design, the detailing and the accessories will bear the unmistakable mark of Alpine. Just like the sports car icon, the Superveloce Alpine will deliver premium performance yet remaining agile and easy to ride.

Monaco Design Studio, MV Agusta’s spearhead design division for the production of exclusive bespoke models, was involved in the project since the beginning and worked in close contact with its counterpart at Alpine. The result is a stunning bike that is a perfect synthesis of the two brands’ personalities yet with an identity of its own. The blue livery of the Superveloce Alpine exactly matches that of the current A110. The raised “A” logos on the fairings are also reminiscent of the original A110 detailing, as well as the black Alcantara seats with blue stitching and the CNC-machined black rims. To mark the collaboration between two national heritage brands, the French and Italian flags are proudly displayed on either side of the front fender.

Timur Sardarov, CEO MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., said “Many Alpine customers are also big MV Agusta fans, and vice-versa. The Superveloce Alpine will ideally bring the two worlds together, with incredible synergies in terms of design, personality and style. We look forward to this collaboration with one of the most admired brands in the history of motorsport, and are confident that this new, superb limited edition will be met with enthusiasm by bikers and motorsport fans around the world.”

Patrick Marinoff, Managing Director of Alpine, added: “MV Agusta is a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and excellence that makes motorcycles like no other. Our two brands are driven by the same passion for creating beautifully engineered products and unique emotions for our customers. The Superveloce Alpine is a fine piece of design and technology that makes no compromise on performance and riding pleasure.”

The Superveloce Alpine will be distributed through MV Agusta’s dealer network.
Price 36.300€ (for Italian market), including the Racing Kit.

Stars hit the AMX Motocross Open this Sunday at Wonthaggi

AMX MX Open 2020

The biggest motocross event to be staged in Australia in this COVID-19 affected year will be staged this weekend in Wonthaggi, Victoria.

Factory teams will compete with some of the nation’s fastest privateers for $15,000 in prizemoney. Runner up American Champion Brett Metcalfe cannot wait to line up and compete.

Brett Metcalfe

I still didn’t believe we would be crossing borders this year so it’s awesome to be racing. I am from South Australia; Kirk Gibbs is from Queensland and riders are coming from all parts of Australia. This is the one and only event of its kind this year and I am excited to race,” said Factory Honda’s Brett Metcalfe.

AMX Motocross Open 2020

The format will prove challenging with one 20-minute race and two back to back 15min races. Monster Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs expects there to be some intense battles.

When you put a back to back race in the format you can expect high intensity racing. Its nonstop hardcore full throttle racing and none of us want to lose, this event gives us bragging rights going into next year so we won’t be leaving anything on the plate,” said Gibbs.

Honda v Yamaha – Team bosses Yarrive Konsky and Craig Dack

Australia has been starved of national competition for 11 months and this is the first time you will see Yamaha go up against Honda this year. Monster Yamaha’s team owner Craig Dack concedes this will be a battle that will fuel the ongoing rivalry.

Yamaha and Honda have been going at one another since their inception and this weekend will be no different. They are both competitive brands and neither of us like to lose,” conceded Dack.

Four-time MR Motocross champion Craig Dack will also be present and is looking forward to the event.

The is my 27th year with Yamaha and racing is racing, nothing changes. As competitors we thrive on competition and racing fuels my passion, but nothing is more satisfying than beating Honda and that has been the same for as long as I can remember. This weekend is important to the industry it stimulates participation”.

Dack also sees benefits in having all classes compete this weekend.

Junior riders don’t get the opportunity to see up close the factory teams in action. I think its important to show them what they can achieve through hard work”. Concluded Dack.

Entries still remain open with limited spots left in some classes.

Gates open at 6.00am

Racing starts at 9.30 – Adults $25, Kids $15

Yamalube Yamaha Racing retains Wilson and Rogers for 2021

Unchanged roster announced for Queensland-based factory team.

Image: iKapture.

Yamalube Yamaha Racing has re-signed both Jay Wilson and Levi Rogers for the 2021 ProMX and Australian Supercross championships, retaining an unchanged roster for next season.

Multiple Australian champion Wilson will be joined by Rogers in the MX2 category for the new season, each representing the factory Yamaha team operated internally by Scott Bishop.

“My goals heading into 2020 were to have a dominant year on the 250 and move to the 450 class for 2021, but with the year the racing world has had, I have just pushed everything back a season,” Wilson explained “My motivation is as strong as it’s ever been and I think I have yet to hit my peak as a rider in terms of both speed and fitness.

“I have found a real interest in off-bike training, which I didn’t always have, and with Levi and Kota [Toriyabe] around last year, they were a good motivational tool for me as both of them are so enthusiastic about riding and racing, that it naturally rubs of on me. I feel fresh and ready to go and as always we have a great team that’s willing to do what it takes to get success. The goal is to win and that’s what we are out to do.”

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Rogers will move directly into the professional ranks after initially planning to enter MXD this year, that opportunity halted by the pandemic. Now, he’s set his sights on a successful rookie campaign after gaining experience at a state level this year.

“Although we didn’t do any national racing in 2020, I was able to get some state-based racing in where I was able to line-up against a lot of the national MX2 riders at several events and experience how things roll,” said Rogers. “I battled with them at a few of the tracks that were on the national calendar over the last few years so it was a confidence boost that I wasn’t too far from them and I could learn from first hand racing experience.

“I took on what I needed to improve on, found areas that I was strong in and think that experience has assisted my in preparation for 2021. I’m willing to do the work and looking forward to taking as many things in from Jay and establishing myself as a solid MX2 competitor.”

Yamalube, GYTR, Yamaha Motor Insurance, Yamaha Motor Finance, bLU cRU will be at the forefront of the program, combined with the use of brands like Scott, Just1, Dunlop, DID, NGK and JT Sprockets from Ficeda Accessories.

Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Unveiled

2021 Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Unveiled

Gearheads worldwide know of the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy since it’s home to several distinguished motorcycle and auto manufacturers, earning the reputation as the Motor Valley. We can add another iconic motorcycle to that list with the unveiling of the limited-edition 2021 Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini, a collaborative effort between Ducati and Lamborghini.

2021 Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Unveiled

This collaboration between the two Italian motorsports icons is the first of its kind and the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will be limited to 630 individually numbered units.

Ducati designers drew inspiration from the ultra-exclusive Lamborghini Siàn FKP 37, arguably Lamborghini’s most ambitious hybrid supercar to date, limited to 63 units and completely personalized per the owner’s specifications. Touting a claimed 819 horsepower out of its internal combustion engine and electric motor, the Siàn FKP 37 is one of the most technologically advanced four-wheeled vehicles available today.

2021 Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Unveiled

Using that impressive machine as a jumping-off point, Ducati’s Bologna-based design team went to work in borrowing several visual elements from the Siàn FKP 37, most notably its Gea Green color that is embellished by Electrum Gold forged wheels and other details. Other design elements borrowed from the car world are the Ducati Red Brembo M50 calipers.

2021 Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Unveiled

All of the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborgini’s bodywork is made out of carbon fiber, and new lightweight forged aluminum rims closely resemble what’s found on the Siàn FKP 37. The Diavel has adopted other signature Lamborghini design cues with the “Y” motif proudly featured on the seat and hexagonal exhaust tips, which have been a staple characteristic since Lamborghini’s founding in 1963.

2021 Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Unveiled

Mechanically, this is the same Ducati Diavel 1260 power cruiser that we already know and enjoy, featuring the powerful 1262 cc Ducati Testastretta DVT engine, fully adjustable Öhlins suspension and top-shelf electronics.

Those interested in owning the 2021 Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will have to act fast, as only 630 units will be produced, and pricing starts at $31,995. For more information, visit Ducati.
