Eddie Lawsons Giant E-Bike

Probably the best way to bring on a coronary would be to try keeping up with Eddie Lawson on a mountain bike. Maybe if you had one of these cool e-bikes, though, your chances of survival would be greatly increased. There’s a very good reason why all the motorcycle manufacturers are getting involved in the e-bike world lately.

Giant Press Release:

EDDIE LAWSON TEAMS UP WITH GIANT BICYCLE USA

Giant Bicycle USA recently collaborated with four-time motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion Eddie Lawson for a video project featuring a Giant E-bike. A lifelong mountain bike rider, Lawson climbed aboard a Giant Trance E+ 1 Pro and was immediately impressed.

“A friend of mine had one and he let me try it and I was hooked. I had to have one,” said Lawson, who rides daily in the rugged desert terrain in Arizona where he lives.

“It used to be I’d get up in the morning and say ‘I should go train on my mountain bike.’ Now I get up and can’t wait to go for a ride. That’s the difference.”

The Trance E+ 1 Pro is a full suspension E-mountain bike that offers a whole new way to tackle technical singl-etrack trails. The SyncDrive Pro motor gives the Trance E+ Pro rider a massive 80Nm of torque and 360% of tuneable support. That means the rider can dial his E-bike with full pedal assist power or tune it less aggressively.

“Eddie is the best athlete ambassador E-biking can have,” said John “JT” Thompson, general manager of Giant Bicycle USA. “He knows superior technology and craftsmanship, and he certainly knows how to put a two-wheeled machine to the test. Eddie is the perfect rider to help spread the joy of E-bikes.”

“The great thing about E-bikes is you can work as hard or as easy as you want,” Lawson said. “An E-bike is a great training tool, and it’s also a lot of fun.”

June 17th Is Ride To Work Day

As you may already know, Ride to Work Day is always observed on the third Monday in June, ostensibly to celebrate the joy of motorcycle riding, but it’s also an opportunity to send a positive message to the non-riding public. (Like we need a reason, right?) But to make a greater impact on those who don’t get our passion, we’re still encouraging all motorcyclists (and scooter riders) to ride to work this Monday. The official title of the event is the 28th annual International Motorcycle and Scooter Ride to Work Day, so even if you’re on a Zuma or a Metropolitan, get your butt out there.

Day 1 sees Garzo top the MotoE™ times in Valencia

A 1:42.136 puts EG 0,0 Marc VDS’ Mike Di Meglio in fourth on the opening day at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, but it wasn’t such a successful day for fellow Frenchman Randy de Puniet. The LCR-E Team rider suffered a nasty highside at Turn 11 and will have an x-ray on Monday evening on his foot, the former MotoGP™ podium finisher will be back on the bike for Day 2 and 3 though. Nico Terol (Openbank Angel Nieto Team) rounded out the top five with a 1:42.155.

Marquez had three HRC bikes at his disposal for the test: one standard, one with a carbon covered frame and one that looks to be Takaaki Nakagami’s 2018 model. In the LCR Honda garage, Nakagami got to try a 2019-spec RC213V, with Cal Crutchlow having some aerodynamic parts to test for HRC – Lorenzo also circulated with a new aero package.
