Ducati improves its most modest Multistrada touring bike for 2022 with a number of changes to lighten weight and improve the overall riding experience. The new Multistrada V2 and V2 S take over for the outgoing 950 and will be available in dealerships starting December 2021 at a starting price of $15,295.
A variety of changes contribute to 11-pound weight savings, including revisions to the latest evolution of Ducati’s 937cc Testastretta 11° V-twin. These updates include new connecting rods and a revised eight-disc hydraulic clutch. Ducati promises a smoother quickshifter (standard on the V2 S), as well as easier engagement of neutral as a result of the clutch changes. Riders can expect 113 hp at 9,000 rpm from the mill and a linear torque curve with pull that tops out at 71 pound-feet at 7,750 rpm.
Other revisions that help reduce weight include new mirrors, brake disc flanges, and light-alloy cast wheels.
A 48mm Sachs fork and shock, both fully adjustable, handle suspension duties on the standard model. Those wanting a bit more sophistication can level up to the V2 S ($17,895) which comes with a Ducati Skyhook Evo semi-active setup. Brembo radial-mount, four-piston calipers provide stopping power at the front along with a two-piston Brembo floating caliper at the rear.
The tubular steel trellis frame accommodates a new, narrower seat and updated bodywork tailored to provide clean, elegant lines from tip to tail. Seat height is reduced down to 32.7 inches and can be lowered further (down to 31.1 inches) with the addition of the optional low seat and lowered suspension. New footpegs taken from the Multistrada V4 sit almost a half-inch further from the seat than on the previous model, giving taller riders a little more room in the saddle.
The Multistrada streetbike also has a respectable electronics package, complete with cornering ABS, Vehicle Hold Control, traction control, four ride modes, and a Ducati Brake Light system which flashes the rear light under sudden, hard braking. Riders opting for the S model will also enjoy, in addition to Skyhook suspension, cruise control, Ducati Cornering Lights, a quickshifter, and a full LED headlight.
The V2 and V2 S will be available in Ducati Red with black rims while the S will also be available in a Street Grey with black frame and GP Red rims.
