Has Viñales been playing the smart game at Mugello?

Speaking about the bike’s handling and how he feels going into the race on Sunday, Viñales said: “The bike is moving a lot. I’m struggling with the bike, I’m fighting every lap. Luckily, physically I’m good and I think I can arrive at the end of the race in a good condition but it’s going to be tough. Schrötter shatters pole-record in feisty Moto2™ qualifying

Into Q2 and times were coming thick and fast right from the get-go, with the Dynavolt Intact GP riders of Marcel Schrötter and Tom Lüthi who were pushing hard at the front, making it a true teammate tussle. In the end however, one late flying lap from Schrötter put him on pole position, the first German rider to take pole at Mugello in the Intermediate class since Martin Wimmer in 1985. Quartararo takes on Marquez in Mugello pole position duel

Marc Marquez was faced with the prospect of being off of the front row for the first time in 2019. The reigning Champion and MotoGP Rookie Quartararo went head-to-head in the dying moments of the session, beating each other in every sector, both looking to take pole. In the end, an inadvertent slipstream from Dovizioso dragged Marquez to pole by over two tenths from Fabio Quartararo. Danilo Petrucci (Mission Winnow Ducati) placed in third, giving three different nationalities on three different bikes on the front row.

Arbolino blitzes Moto3™ lap record for Mugello pole

Into Q2, it was more hectic activity from the Moto3™ class, as Tony Arbolino (VNE Snipers) blasted his way to pole position for his home Grand Prix, with a new lap record. In second place, Gabriel Rodrigo (Kömmerling Gresini Moto3) was back on the front row, whilst third place belonged to Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Leopard Racing). Heading up row two was Andrea Migno (Bester Capital Dubai), looking for his second Moto3™ win at Mugello. Fifth, Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse) will be hoping for more front-running come race day.
