Mithos Announces Guaranteed Delivery Semi-Custom Design

Mithos now promises delivery within 11 weeks and availability of semi-custom suits.

Begin press release:

Effective September 1, 2019, Mithos launched its Guaranteed Delivery program and new lower-price ‘custom-fit, semi-custom design’ suit options.

Mithos has added staff, a U.S. design team and significantly increased factory capacity to meet the incredible demand. “We were absolutely unprepared for the number of orders we got right off the bat and we have been playing catch up ever since,” said Ken Tam, CEO of Mithos USA. “Once people get their suit, they love it but delays have been our Achilles heel. We’ve solved the issues and now we need to prove that to our clients. The best way to do that is with a guarantee.”

If an order is not delivered within 11 weeks of final sign-off on design and measurements, the client will get $100 off the price of the suit. If the suit takes longer than 12 weeks, they will get an additional $100 off.

Mithos is committed to bringing its top-of-the-line safety, premium quality and unmatched fit to everyone. To that end, they have reworked their pricing model and are introducing four Semi-Custom design suits at a reduced price. This ‘custom-fit with semi-custom design’ allows clients to choose one of four Semi-Custom Mithos designs and personalize it with any color combination available in their chosen leather – cow or kangaroo*.

“You can ask anyone who has a Mithos suit and they will tell you it’s the most comfortable suit they’ve ever worn. The effort that went into developing the pattern really shows once you zip up and roll out,” said Dustin Coyner, Racer Support Manager at Mithos. “Custom-fit is obviously more comfortable but it is also safer. Very few people can wear off-the-rack suits – it’s going to be loose somewhere. And that may mean trouble in a crash.”

At $1,599 for cow leather and $2,249 for kangaroo, clients get a custom-built suit exactly to their body measurements with YKK zippers, premium leather, SAS-TEC armor and a 2-year warranty against any non-crash related damage.

“Our goal is to match some of the high-end off-the-rack pricing but with custom-fit and allow the client to choose their own colors. Let’s face it, at a track day, most of the suits are black or white with red or blue accents. This world isn’t black and white. Bikes and helmets are all different colors. Now your leathers can be as well,” said Ken Tam.

Clients can add Tech-Air compatibility, a Tech-Air vest or upgrade the armor from SAS-TEC to Paramount for an additional cost. To check out the Semi-Custom suit designs and color options, visit the website Mithos-usa.com

“I am thankful to find that U.S. riders value the quality and safety that Mithos is proud to deliver. We have many new products planned in the future and look forward to bringing them to the U.S. market” said Bruno Zimmerli, Founder, Mithos.

New Product: KTM 790 Adventure Skid Plate from Black Dog Cycle Works

Black Dog Cycle Works, makers of some of the burliest skid plates on the market, has announced that its KTM 790 Adventure Skid Plate is now available for pre-order with shipment expected mid-October.

Begin Press Release:

KTM 790 ADVENTURE SKID PLATE

*** NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER ***

We are making great progress on our parts for the new KTM 790 – I am sure not as fast as everyone (including us) would like but we are confident it will be worth the wait.

Our Ultimate Skid Plate for the KTM 790 Adventure is now available for Pre-Order including an introductory discount of $25 for the first batch. Expected availability is mid-October. Now that a few more options are coming to market, we can point out some of the characteristics of our skid plate that we feel give it the advantage over other designs:

  • Stout 3/16″ 5052 Aluminum construction which provides an excellent balance of weight, impact absorption and durability.
  • The BURLY Rear mounting bracket we designed reinforces the footpeg mounts to reduce the change of damage to the engine case.
  • The energy from bottom impacts are dispersed by a rubber shock block as well as the stock support. We have seen some skid plates that are completely unsupported between the front and rear mounting locations which definitely risks the engine and header pipe.
  • Our design does NOT attach to the engine block
  • Eliminates the need for heavy engine bars or tank protection as it is compatible with the stock tank guards (which are proving to be very durable).
  • Front ventilation holes provide plenty of airflow while allowing minimal debris to enter the skid plate from the front tire which would block the airflow holes as seen in some other designs.
  • Our 2 piece design is maintenance friendly, requiring the removal of only 5 bolts for oil changes! We have seen some designs that require as many as 10 bolts to be removed!!
  • Smooth flat bottom for clearing obstacles and lifting the bike for maintenance
  • Three color options: Black, White and a Black/White Combo
  • Same legendary protection as our other skid plates developed over the last 13 years
  • Made in the U.S.A. – supporting American craftsmen and the U.S. economy!!
The following KTM 790 parts are in stock and ready to ship:
  • Traction footpegs
  • Platform footpegs
  • Multi-Function Rear Rack
  • Side Stand Enlarger
  • Throttle Control
  • Hepco Becker crash bars in Black and Orange
Coming soon:
  • Hepco Becker Pannier racks (can be pre-ordered)
In Development:
  • Pillion Rack (which integrates into our rear rack)
  • Light mounts

Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha’s Gautier Paulin is confident he’s as prepared as possible to assist Team France to a sixth-straight Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations crown this Sunday in the Netherlands.

The Frenchman, who will represent his country for the 11th time in his career, says he’ll be racing for the team this weekend as he dons the number one plate.

The French team has endured a tumultuous lead-up to the MXoN, first with Romain Febvre (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing) bowing out with injury before the federation excluded Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle over a logo dispute.

“I’m prepared for Assen,” Paulin stated. “I feel good, we have been working hard to prepare the bike and we have made some changes to the suspension and the team have been working hard to give me the best bike they can.

“We haven’t stopped since it’s the end of the World Championship season, we have kept pushing to be good in Assen in such tough sand conditions. This weekend is a unique event, we don’t just ride for ourselves, we ride for the team. We will do our best to be up front.”

Paulin will be joined by Maxime Renaux (Yamaha) and Jordi tixier (KTM) in the three-rider squad this weekend.

Team Australia applying no pressure on MXoN rookie Duffy

Team Australia applying no pressure on MXoN rookie Duffy

Raceline KTM Thor rider primed for Assen this weekend.

Recently-crowned Pirelli MX Nationals MXD champion Regan Duffy says there’s no additional pressure from Team Australia has he makes his Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN) debut this weekend at just 17 years of age in the Open category.

The Raceline KTM Thor rider was drafted into the squad just two weeks ago following the withdrawal of MX2 World Championship regular Mitch Evans (Team Honda 114 Motorsports), the Queenslander currently recovering from a list of ongoing injuries sustained throughout the year.

Duffy, who was racing the Australian Junior Motocross Championship this time last year, dominated in the MXD category in 2019, and made a glowing performance at the Manjimup 15,000 aboard the 450, where he defeated a number of the country’s top premier class contenders.

“It’s going to be tough,” Duffy stated to MotoOnline.com.au. “From what I’ve heard, there are two jumps that you get a break on, and the rest is deep sand and getting drawn into the dirt. I like the long motos and I’ve always been pretty good with that, hopefully I can just keep my head and ride like I know how to.

“It’s going to be a good experience, and I’ve got no pressure or anything – the team knows I’m there filling the spot, so it’s not like they want me to go out and get a top five as Mitch probably would – it’s cool like that.”

The Western Australian will join three-time MX Nationals MX1 champion Dean Ferris (Raceline Recover8 KTM) and Kyle Webster (Penrite Pirelli CRF Honda Racing) in the green and gold at Assen in the Netherlands.

Davies optimistic with improved Ducati V4 R package

Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider hopeful to maintain form this weekend in France.

Image: Supplied.

Chaz Davies says he’s feeling optimistic for the remainder of the 2019 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) after his recent surge in form is a result of an improved Ducati Panigale V4 R package.

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider, who has signed on for 2020 with the outfit, struggled to come grips with the all-new machine at the beginning of the year, however has recently scored an array of podium finishes.

“I feel good for Magny Cours because the podium at Portimao has actually given me optimism for the rest of the season and I feel that it proves we have a pretty good package with the bike now,” Davies explained. “The French track has been quite kind to me in the past so we’ll try and get some good results there.

“I’m not really looking for any particular place in the championship now – of course it’s nice to be in the hunt for the top 3 but my goal is just to be competitive on the remaining circuits until the end of the year.”

The WorldSBK series resumes this weekend at Magny-Cours in France for round 11 of the series.

Red Bull KTM signs Hofer for 2020 MX2 World Championship

News 27 Sep 2019

Red Bull KTM signs Hofer for 2020 MX2 World Championship

Austrian manufacturer completes its line-up for next season.

Image: Supplied.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has signed 17-year-old Rene Hofer for the 2020 MX2 World Championship, as dual world champion Jorge Prado graduates to the premier class.

The Austrian, who will race alongside Tom Vialle next year, impressed with three wildcard MX2 appearances in 2019 in what was his first full year of competition aboard the KTM 250 SX-F, while he was ranked fourth in his maiden EMX250 campaign.

“I’m super excited,” Hofer stated. “We’ve really worked for this over the last couple of years and my dreams are coming true right now. We were not sure if it would happen for 2020 but I showed some good speed in the second half of the season and also that I could compete in good positions in MX2.

“I felt confident in the class from the very first time, even if the weekend routine is pretty different from EMX. I’m so grateful to be able to have the chance to ride for the most successful team in the GP paddock and to have the best racing people around me as well as being able to learn from Tom.

“I’ve trained with him a few times now and he’s a really nice guy. He had an unbelievable rookie season and I think we can put in some solid preparation work over the winter to be ready for 2020. I turn 18 next year and I know I am ready for this step. For sure the result in Imola was very good but I will be hungry for more and I will bring in the very best effort from my side.

“I cannot forget to thank all the people who have helped me reach this stage of my career and who have helped shape me as a rider and as a human. I cannot wait to start work for 2020 but first I need to focus on this weekend!”

KTM’s vice president of off-road Robert Jonas added: “Rene has quickly moved up through the levels of the sport and he made sure that it was hard to ignore his progress in 2019 and his first with the 250 SX-F. After two seasons in the 125s and just one in EMX250 he was already pushing for a grand prix opportunity and showed us what he can do.

“We really like the mentality and the determination of this kid and we’re proud to be able to bring another rookie into our factory team for 2020. He’s Austrian and some might think this would be an advantage but it also comes with pressure, and we wanted to make sure that Rene would be able to handle this chance.

“I can remember this situation from my own experience and we have no doubts about Rene. 2020 will be a learning year but, together with Tom, it means we have exciting and youthful talent behind an amazing strong MXGP line-up.”

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will field Prado alongside multi-time world champions Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings in MXGP next year.
