Redding ‘making progress’ as WorldSBK transition continues

BSB champion and former MotoGP contender Scott Redding believes he’s making progress as he continues his transition to the WorldSBK-spec Ducati Panigale V4 R.

The British ace was once again highly-competitive in testing at Jerez last week, winding up sixth on day one before going fifth fastest on day two.

Redding continued to work on the electronics while also sampling new tyres from Pirelli, which has ultimately provided him with a direction ahead of the 2020 season.

“We’re still not where we’d like to be but we’re making progress,” Redding admitted. “As well as testing the new tyres brought by Pirelli, we managed to work a bit more with the electronics, which are totally new to me in Superbike.

“In general I was quite happy by the end of the test, it’s good to have that bonding between myself and the Panigale V4 R and know which direction to work in ready for the 2020 season.”

The next test for the WorldSBK series will take place back at the Jerez circuit before moving immediately on to Portimao, from the 21-26 January.

Make A Date With Women’s Motorcycle Tours’ SCMR2020

Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, Women’s Motorcycle Tours has released the official dates, routes and opening of registration for the Suffragists Centennial Motorcycle Ride (SCMR2020). The female-focused, three-week cross-country motorcycling event will commence Friday, July 31, 2020 and end on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Founder Alisa Clickenger will be at the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows tour stop in New York, NY December 6-8, 2019 to explain the program to all interested riders.

“The SCMR2020 will be the most significant female-focused riding event in 2020,” claims Clickenger. “I love wrapping epic motorcycle rides around historical events, and Centennials are particularly powerful times to bring people together. My intent is to create an event that makes history at the same time as we celebrate it.”

This cross-country event will provide multiple experiences for all disciplines of motorcycle riders in celebration of the centennial of women’s suffrage. The 19th Amendment provided women with the right to vote and is seen as a significant historical event in the journey toward equality and empowerment for women. Partnering with local, state and federal organizations, SCMR2020 will broadcast and amplify the message of women’s freedom, excitement and empowerment through motorcycling.

While the ultimate goal is to create an atmosphere of celebration and unity among female motorcyclists, SCMR2020 welcomes all riders; male and female, all brands of motorcycles, two and three-wheeled machines… even non-riders. “Freedom, unity and celebration are our guiding principles,” concludes Clickenger.

Giacomo Agostini

Celebrating an unrivaled sporting career in the champion’s hometown of Bergamo

Varese, 29th November 2019 – 15 World Championships titles, 123 Grand Prix victories, 18 Italian Championships titles, 10 Tourist Trophies’ wins for a total of 311 victorious races: these are the impressive numbers of Giacomo Agostini’s racing career, which extended from the early 60’s to the late 70’s, and most of which was spent under the MV Agusta colours. This unprecedented heritage now has a museum to preserve it and share it with MV Agusta enthusiasts and motorcycling fans from all over the world. It is located in medieval Bergamo, Giacomo Agostini’s hometown, nested between the Po plain and the Alps, a stone’s throw from Milan.

The museum was designed as a private trophy room by architect Michele Giavarini for the champion to keep his more than 350 trophies, with the idea of also opening it to the public. The museum hosts some of the historic bikes used by Agostini, as well as helmets, race suits and personal objects, displayed in chronological order. On the inox-concrete floor, a giant no.1, black on yellow, the number Agostini raced with, and the word “Ago” painted in bright red, his nom de guerre, remind everyone that Giacomo Agostini’s record number of victories and championships titles is yet unequaled.

Giacomo Agostini commented: “The history of my life is all there in this one room, and being able to spend some time there alone with my thoughts, going back to those extraordinary memories, fills me with joy.”

Timur Sardarov, CEO MV Agusta, said: “The partnership between our brand and Giacomo Agostini is part of the glorious history of this company, and we are glad that a man who contributed so much to the legend of MV Agusta is now being rightly celebrated with this museum.”

The museum is private and can be visited by groups (8 people minimum) upon reservation through Villa Vittoria Charme and Relax luxury bed & breakfast. The resort is managed by Agostini’s daughter Vittoria, and offers a complete package including one-night accommodation, visit to the museum and dinner with the champion. Rins: “It was like an explosion of emotions”

A: It’s very difficult to explain, because it is like a mix of multiple emotions – not only from on the track, but also afterwards in the garage with all the team. It sounds cliche, but it really was a dream come true! It’s something I had aimed for since I was a little kid, so it was really special, and very difficult to properly describe.
