Rea Extends Lead Once More
In the sprint race I felt pretty good but of course in the first laps I was very, very lucky. Alvaro came past on the straight and then in T4 had a huge crash at the exit. I hit his bike and in this moment I thought I was down; was going to crash. I almost let go but miraculously I stayed upright and someone was definitely helping me out there! I had to regroup and chase Mikey but his pace was very good today so congratulations to him and his team. I just didn’t have it in the final race. I felt I had some issues straight away with the front feeling, a lot of vibration in the brakes but apart from that feeling I felt good for about ten laps. The grip level started to drop and I suffered more with the front tyre than yesterday. I was getting a lot of warnings. The race was very tough and aggressive in the beginning so as soon as the pace settled I was just there, and the gap was very constant but to arrive in the front group I was going to have to go over the limit and push the front too much. The target coming here was to increase our championship lead and I think we managed quite well.

Rea Takes Front Running Victory
It was super-good to win here. I had a lot of motivation in this race. It is my team’s home race and Ana Carrasco could not be here in the WorldSSP300 class, so this win was for her – and also for my Grandfather, as it is the 27th anniversary of his death today. I was using this to give me power in the race, to never rest and never give up. I am super-happy for my team and me, because, literally, our workshops are located just behind the main grandstand. It is a happy day and I just wish the fans and families could be here to celebrate with us. We also have a lot of information for tomorrow, and I am looking forward to that one because in the last lap today the front was moving quite a lot. In this temperature at this grip level we just need a little bit more for tomorrow.

Rea Fifth And Fastest In The Wet
In the end I felt quite good with the bike and found a good rhythm. This morning I had some issues in braking, when the lever was coming back too far, so the first half of the session was dealing with that. In the afternoon it was wet so we were just step-by-step finding the conditions. We have never ridden here in the wet so we were just looking out for those slippery areas. I almost got caught out in the afternoon when Maximilian Scheib fell just in front of me – and first of all I want to say that I hope he is OK. I was catching him and he lost the rear on the exit of turn five. I was right there and I got in between the bike and him, so I was so lucky. After day one I feel like we are quite prepared and I have experience in wet and dry conditions now. We know what we are dealing with.

Catalan Test For Rea
It is a really exciting moment because I grew up watching MotoGP racing at Montmelo and I loved the layout. I played it on the Playstation and it was always my favourite track. We were lucky to get the chance to test there in the middle of the summer and I felt great with it. I had a smile inside my helmet when I was riding. We learned lots of things to help us get ahead in first practice on Friday morning. Another reason to get excited is that it is the team’s home race. So while we will not have a full ‘squad’ of sponsors and extended family of the crew, we will be racing for them. It is an important race for the team, which is based just over the grandstand in Granollers. Of course the target is always to win, so we will put our heads together and work in the same way as we have been doing – preparing the bike to be strong over race distance. I am looking forward to the battles it is going to bring.

Kawasaki Plans Noslisu Three-Wheelers
Kawasaki has filed a trademark for “Noslisu” for a range of three-wheeler bicycles, e-bikes and motorised leaning trikes.
The filing with the European Union on August 31, 2020, suggests Kawasaki is following Yamaha and Honda in developing leaning three-wheelers.
It also follows their latest patent application in the US in December 2019 for a complex leaning trike design with horizontal links instead of conventional vertical forks and a mono-shock like a BMW telelever arrangement.
Yamaha already has the Tricity leaning three-wheeler scooter and Niken motorcycle as well as patent plans for more leaning trikes with two front wheels including a VMax!
Honda has also applied for patents for leaning three-wheelers as has AKO who want to make an electric version.
Each model has a different idea of how leaning three-wheelers with two front wheels should lean and steer.
Now, the Kawasaki Noslisu trademark has introduced the idea of leaning three-wheeler bicycles as well as e-bikes with electric motors as well as conventional engines.
We’re not are what Noslisu means in Japanese. We used Google translator and it says “No siss”!
While several motorcycle manufacturers are looking at a future that includes e-bikes, Kawasaki is the first to develop a three-wheeler bicycle, let alone one that leans!
Pros and cons of leaning
The advantage of leaning three-wheelers is that they feel very much like a normal bike to ride, but they double the contact patch on the front which improves cornering grip.
Some also have the ability to stay upright without having to put a foot down at slow speeds or when stationary.
This makes them ideal for novices or those who can no longer support a motorcycle because of leg injuries or age.
However, the disadvantages of leaning three-wheelers are that they are ugly, heavy, and more expensive.
