Baldassarri’s season had got off to a strong start, with wins in the first two races and after the first four races, had been on top of the podium on three occasions. However, he has slipped down the order in the last five Grand Prix, meaning he will need to repeat his early season form to get back on track. Teammate Augusto Fernandez came back from injury at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, finishing third. Fernandez took a win at Assen and now, the 21-year-old is just 34 points behind the championship lead.
