I could do 20 laps in a row within half a second, which was really consistent and the most important thing,” causing Cavendish to comment that such consistency was comparable to five-time World Champion Jorge Lorenzo. “Yes, it was Jorge’s strong point, always within a tenth in the race.”

Arenas: “I hope I’ve not forgotten how to get my knee down”

“That remains forever, it is a victory that I will always remember. We celebrated it, the sensations were incredible, but we were already thinking about the next race. In a normal situation we would have had to fly to Thailand, where I won in 2019, and where we would have arrived with a lot of energy, after the victory in Qatar, but also after the preseason that we had done. Now I just try to live in the moment.”

Miller “close” to agreeing 2021 Ducati Team deal

“At the end of last year, we decided to swap the positions, and now the first approach is done by Ducati because they wanted to make a plan in the medium to long term with young riders and they asked us if it was possible. Morbidelli: Yamaha’s diamond in the rough

Regarding the pressure that his rider faced during the 2019 season, dealing with the raw pace of rookie Quartararo, Forcada explained that, although he didn’t openly admit it, the 25-year-old, without doubt, struggled: “Franco didn’t show the pressure on the outside, but surely he felt it. It’s that it was so unexpected because if you go to a team and you know the guy on the other side of the box is a World Champion, you know what to expect. But when this happens and there’s no warning, obviously it’s a bigger shock.”

In conversation with: Marc Marquez and Ivan Rakitic

MM: “Well, what we know is that on the side of the promotors the riders, the teams, we want to get started as soon as possible, but there’s a priority, which is people’s health, obviously, and those who know about the virus – the experts that are dealing with it – will have the last word. But everything’s looking like mid-July we can start with the Jerez GP but the big handicap we’ll have, in our case, is that the World Championship travels to different countries, there are various nationalities involved, and that’s where it’s more difficult to coordinate everything but they’re trying to create or improvise a championship in a bit of a new style maybe repeating circuits to do different races, so it counts as a World Championship, but adapting to the current situation.”

Martin flattered by 2021 Ducati interest

However, Martin said that he believes that his riding style could match the performance of the Desmosedici GP. “The Ducati is a bike that, due to my current riding style, I could better adapt to”, whereas a move to one of the KTM MotoGP™ teams would mean him having to work on his style, because “the KTM is a bike that forces me to brake super late, stop it and open the gas early.”
