Macna release 2019 summer jackets

Macna continues to introduce more models to its burgeoning rider clothing range with five new summer jackets for the coming hot-weather riding season.

As with all European manufacturers, all their gear is CE approved for safe motorcycle riding.

Since Link International began importing European riding gear from Macna in 2017, we have reviewed several items and found them all to be technically clever, comfortable and safe.

Here is a rundown of just their five new summer jackets.

This is the only new jacket in the summer riding range that includes women’s sizes.

It features large mesh panels and can easily be packed into a top-box or backpack for when it gets hot.

Not sure what a “Hurracage” is, but Macna claims this is a hybrid jacket with large areas of mesh material for ventilation and a zip-out Raintex Plus waterproof liner.

Macna Neutron heated gloves are wireless

Unlike many other sets of electric heated motorcycle gloves, Macna Neutron wireless heated gloves don’t have to be plugged into a bulky power supply.

The waterproof gloves come with a discrete, wireless, rechargeable lithium battery in the cuff that lasts for four hours.

Keeping your hands warm and dry is not just a matter of comfort, but also safety. If you have cold hands, you can’t control the throttle and levers as well. The pain from the cold can also divert your attention from the road ahead.

Macna Neutron gloves are not cheap at $399.95, but they would be far more convenient to use than others that need to be plugged in.

These heated gloves have a three-setting regulator on the top side of the cuff.

Even when the heater is switched off, the Bemberg thermal lining should keep your hands warm while their Outdry system should keep them dry.

They say it is 100% waterproof because the membrane prevents the gloves from becoming waterlogged.

I’ve ridden with other waterproof gloves that don’t let your hands get wet, but the outer glove still absorbs water which makes your hands cold.

It also means you don’t have to hang your gloves over a heater overnight to dry them out for the next day’s ride.

Macna Neutron gloves are made from tough but flexible goat leather with a nylon upper cuff.

They come with R.I.S.C. carbon knuckle protection, EVA padded palms and TPR padded fingers.

They have a 30-degree closure strap and buckle with wrist and cuff straps, a visor wipe on the left index finger, an ergo-thumb design and “touch tip” in the fingers for operating smart screens without having to remove your gloves. 

We’ve tried this touchscreen feature on other Macna gloves and it works ok, but not all the time.

Macna Neutron is available in black only from selected motorcycle retail outlets in sizes S to 4XL.

2019 Macna men’s jacket range released

European motorcycle clothing company Macna makes some advanced technology gear with a lot of street smarts, although some of the colours and designs in their 2019 range might be a little adventurous for some riders.

Bright blues and yellows are not your typical motorcycle fare. But there is also some basic black and charcoal colours for the more traditional male rider.

There are also hoodies, semi-hoodies and army-style designs.

If these men’s jackets are half as clever as the Aytee all-season jacket we love to use on tour, then they should be worth the money.

Some are suitable for summer and some for winter and a few for all seasons.

Prices are not high, either. The eight new jackets range in price from $249.95 to just $429.95.

All European gear now has to be properly certified and these jackets contain a lot of protective materials for abrasion and impact resistance.

While Macna has added eight new men’s jackets, there are no new women’s jackets.

Their current women’s jackets include four in the Core range and four in the Graphite lineup.
