20 Iconic Motorcycles at the New American Honda Collection Hall

There are 20 iconic Honda motorcycles on display at the American Honda Collection Hall in Torrance, California.

We were honored to attend the grand opening of the American Honda Collection Hall, a 20,000-square-foot museum dedicated to Honda’s rich history in the United States. It is serves as an extension of the massive, multistory Honda Collection Hall located on the grounds of the Twin Ring Motegi racetrack in Tochigi, Japan. American Honda’s press release below provides more details, including how the public can visit the museum. The new American Honda Collection Hall officially opened its doors on Sept. 12, 2023, in Southern California. The hall offers visitors a glimpse of more than 60 historic and significant Honda and Acura automobiles, motorcycles, power equipment, race machines, engines, and concept models, as well as images, graphics, and video presentations. The products on display represent the more than six decades since American Honda Motor Co., Inc. was established in 1959 as the first Honda company outside of Japan.

Community leaders joined Honda officials, associates, and retirees for the grand opening, celebrating the new 20,000-square-foot display connected to the main lobby of American Honda headquarters in Torrance, California.

Open to the public free of charge during scheduled public “Cars, Bikes & Coffee” events, the American Honda Collection Hall pays tribute to Honda’s unique contributions to American’s lives and highlights significant milestones in the history of Honda in the U.S.

  • 1962 Honda 50/Super Cub – One of the first three models Honda sold in the U.S. The Super Cub is now the overall bestselling vehicle globally with over 100 million sold to date.

The display at the American Honda Collection Hall will be updated several times a year to showcase different products and themes.

The Collection will serve as an educational and cultural hub for the Southern California community. Honda will begin hosting regular “Cars, Bikes & Coffee” events at its Torrance campus on the third Saturday of every other month, with attendees welcome to tour the American Honda Collection Hall.

The inaugural event will take place Saturday, October 21, and will include special activities, such as giveaways, special displays, vendors, food trucks, music and more. All interesting automobiles and motorcycles from all manufacturers and eras are welcome for attendees to display. Isle of Triumph Coming to Barber Vintage Festival

Barber Vintage Festival Isle of Triumph

Barber Vintage Festival is one of the premier gatherings for vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. Held every October on the expansive grounds of Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, the event includes vintage racing, a swap meet, vendors, demo rides on modern bikes, and much more, including the new “Isle of Triumph” fan experience (read the press release from Triumph below). Rider’s Editor-in-Chief Greg Drevenstedt will be at the 2023 event, so look for the guy in the Rider hat and say hello!

Triumph Motorcycles will introduce the immersive “Isle of Triumph” fan experience, during the 18th Barber Vintage Festival at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, from October 6-8, 2023.

Recently celebrating its landmark 120th anniversary, the iconic British motorcycle brand will lean on this heritage to transform the festival’s infield into an engaging moto haven celebrating the culture and lifestyle of its riders.

Taking over what was formerly known as Ace Corner, admittance to the “Isle of Triumph” is no additional cost to Barber Vintage Festival ticketholders. Registration is required and guests can pre-register at TriumphMotorcycles.com.

The Rebel Whiskey Stage will be a focal point at the Isle of Triumph and will feature live music and a variety of daily interviews and presentations. Daily schedule to be released.

The VAHNA Motorcycle Show will display 30 motorcycles in the heart of the Isle of Triumph space, with the top three winners receiving awards and prizes from Triumph Motorcycles, Danner Boots, and more. The inaugural show will be an open-class show, with all entrants receiving Barber Vintage Fest Admission and an Isle of Triumph T-Shirt. Interested owners may submit their motorcycle for this year’s show using the Submission Form at TriumphMotorcycles.com.

Visitors can also browse the selection at the Triumph clothing store, view art installations, with lunch, dinner, and drinks from dedicated food trucks and bars. The area will also feature bespoke vendors such as Nashville’s H BAR C, and activations from local radio stations 102.5 The Bull and 103.1 The Vulcan.

Of course, the primary attraction at Barber Vintage Festival is three full days of vintage motorcycle racing, and guests at the Isle of Triumph get access to the best viewing area in the park. Perched atop a hillside at Turn 15, spectators enjoy unparalleled views of the technical turn as it leads into the straight away to the finish line, as well as distant views of Turn 5 and the mid-track straight away between Turns 10 and 11.

One tram stop away from the Isle of Triumph, the Triumph Factory Demo Truck will be in the demo area, where licensed riders with a valid motorcycle endorsement and complete riding gear can choose from the full range of 2024 Triumph Motorcycles to take on a 20-minute self-guided test ride.

“We are very proud to introduce the ‘Isle of Triumph’ for all riders to enjoy at this year’s Barber Vintage Festival,” said Adam VanderVeen, Marketing Director, Triumph Motorcycles America. “This space has been one of the most cherished areas of the entire event for attendees, and it’s a privilege for Triumph to partner with Barber Motorsports Park to re-open the infield. Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Program Surpasses $6 Million in Funding

With a goal of supporting responsible access to our nation’s public lands for outdoor enthusiasts, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative program announced it has surpassed $6 million in cumulative funding. As an example of these efforts, during the second quarter of this year, funding went toward three projects in Oregon, providing enhanced riding experiences across the Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation Area, the Tillamook State Forest, and the Prospect OHV riding area on the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest. MARIETTA, Ga. (Aug. 29, 2023) — Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, announces the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI) has surpassed a remarkable $6 million in cumulative funding. A trailblazer in the powersports industry, Yamaha’s OAI remains steadfast in its commitment to championing and safeguarding access to lands for both motorized and outdoor recreation. Since its inception in 2008, the program has fueled the realization of over 470 projects nationwide.

“Fifteen years ago, when Yamaha conceived the Outdoor Access Initiative, we foresaw the positive impact it would have on our valued customers, dedicated dealership network, and the public landscapes we enjoy today,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s motorsports marketing manager. “While much work remains, we take immense pride in our contribution of over $6 million thus far. This support underscores our commitment to foster safe, sustainable riding and recreation across public lands.”

The second quarter of 2023 witnessed the endorsement of three pivotal projects in Oregon through OAI. These initiatives provide enhanced riding experiences across the Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation Area, the Tillamook State Forest, and the Prospect OHV riding area on the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest. The range of projects, from erecting informative wayfinding signs to constructing vital bridges and staging areas, epitomizes the essence of OAI’s dedication to lasting improvements in Oregon’s recreational opportunities.

Amongst the pool of Q2 applications, 18 grants were awarded, totaling an impressive $311,355. The recipients span the following organizations:

Individuals passionate about leading projects to enhance and safeguard access to public lands for motorized and outdoor recreation are encouraged to apply for an OAI grant. Notably, this initiative has expanded to embrace Yamaha’s Power Assist Bicycle group, further preserving access to public spaces for all forms of outdoor and motorized recreation.

The application deadline for the third quarter funding cycle is Sept. 30, 2023. Yamaha welcomes the participation of OHV and bicycling clubs, land stewardship groups, and related nonprofit outdoor recreation organizations. Triumph Announces Active Preload Reduction for Tiger 1200 Range

As evidenced by the popularity of our series of “Best Motorcycles for Smaller Riders” lists on the Buyers Guides section of our website, seat height is an important consideration for riders, and considering the height of most adventure bikes, if there is one place you want to feel planted, it’s coming to a stop – especially with a passenger and full load. As a result, Triumph has announced the Active Preload Reduction for the Tiger 1200 range, which lowers the seat height by up to .78 inch more than even the accessory low seat option. Active Preload Reduction will be available for both new and existing Tiger 1200 owners. For more information, read the press release below.

The new Active Preload Reduction feature has been developed to lower the resting seat height by reducing the rear suspension preload as the Tiger 1200 slows.

For the Tiger 1200 GT, GT Pro, and GT Explorer models, there are currently two seat height settings: 33.46 inches (850mm) and 34.52 inches (870mm), while for the Rally Pro and Rally Explorer models these are 34.44 inches (875mm) and 35.23 inches (895mm). When these motorcycles are fitted with the accessory low seat option, the seat position is lowered by an additional .78 inch (20mm), giving a lowest seat height of 32.67 inches (830mm) on the GT family and 33.66 inches (855mm) on the Rally family.

The new Active Preload Reduction feature allows these seat heights to be reduced farther. Depending on the combined weight of the rider, pillion, and luggage this could further lower the height by up to .78 inch (20mm) when the motorcycle comes to a standstill, offering the rider greater ease and confidence. New Tiger 1200 owners will be able to access this new minimum preload feature by simply pressing the ‘Home’ button on the right switch cube for one second, as the feature will now come standard on all new Tiger 1200 motorcycles.

“The new Tiger 1200 range is already a global success, attracting new fans and increasing Triumph’s share of this highly competitive market,” said Steve Sargent, Triumph’s chief product officer. “This new feature can be enabled on the fly, lowering the center of gravity at slower speeds, making it even more accessible, offering riders more confidence at slow speeds and better contact with the ground as they come to stop.”

The new feature will also be available to existing 2023 Tiger 1200 customers via a software update, which can be done by their authorized Triumph dealership during their next scheduled service. There will be no upgrade fee for existing customers to access the new feature, however standard dealership labor rates will apply for the service of the motorcycle.

The all-new Tiger 1200 was designed to be the world’s most capable, agile, and maneuverable large capacity adventure motorcycle, and the range includes the GT family, tailor made for the perfect road-focused adventure ride, and the Rally family, perfect for an all-terrain adventure. The Tiger 1200 GT Explorer with its 7.9-gallon (30 liter) tank was even the bike of choice for Enduro World Champion Ivan Cervantes when he broke the record for riding the farthest in 24 hours on a motorcycle.

Since 2008, Can-Am has provided a unique way to experience the open road with its Spyder 3-wheelers. In 2019, Can-Am, a brand of BRP Inc., launched a lighter, more affordable 3-wheeled platform called the Can-Am Ryker, which was aimed at a younger, more diverse audience. More than half of Ryker owners are new to riding, and nearly 35% of Ryker owners are women.

As part of its emphasis on inclusivity and welcoming more people into the riding experience, Can-Am launched a custom collaboration with The Shoe Surgeon, a world-renowned Los Angeles-based group of creatives who specialize in the craft of custom shoe making and design. Both brands are dedicated to crafting something unique and authentic, with no compromises, and this collaboration brings that to life.

Together, Can-Am and The Shoe Surgeon created three custom Can-Am Rykers along with three styles of Can-Am-inspired riding shoes that push the limits of creativity to celebrate inclusivity, heritage, and the love of the ride.

Each of the Can-Am Ryker 3-wheel vehicles designed and customized by The Shoe Surgeon is a unique design that is as much a piece of art as it is a thrilling machine. Ultimately, each vehicle will be donated to help raise awareness and money toward fighting intimidation and influencing positive behavior, which is BRP’s global social cause.

Also, the limited run of custom-crafted shoes match the vehicles and borrow design cues from the Can-Am Ryker, including different lines and visual cues. The shoes are purpose-built for riding with an over-the-ankle design, reinforced material, reflective surfaces, and a nonslip sole.

The “Brand Heritage” theme celebrates Can-Am’s 50-year history of innovation and excellence through premium leather, exotic and textural finish materials, precision craftsmanship, and luxurious details on both machine and riding shoes. It uses gold accents combined with dark tones and hints of red for an elegant and distinct look.

Dunlop celebrates its 50th year of producing motorcycle tires in the U.S. this year. Founded in 1923 in Ontario, the company moved its motorcycle tire manufacturing to Tonawanda, New York, in 1973. Five years later, Dunlop began what would become a vital relationship with Harley-Davidson, which saw such innovations as wide white walls and multitread touring tires.

Today, Dunlop continues to produce high quality motorcycle tires. As a testament to the quality of these tires, our reviewer in a test of the Dunlop American Elite tires stated: “In fact, in over 48 years of riding motorcycles (don’t judge), these are the best road tires I’ve ever tried.” Dunlop is also the official tire of MotoAmerica and American Flat Track racing series.

BUFFALO, NY — It may be hard to believe that Dunlop has been a critical part of the western New York Community for 100 years now, with its first tire rolling off the assembly line in 1923. For half of those 100 years, this factory produced over 20 million motorcycle tires for the North American market. Back in the early 1970s, motorcycle tire molds were moved from the Dunlop plant in Whitby, Ontario, across the Canadian border to the nearby Dunlop factory located in Tonawanda, New York, just outside the Buffalo city limits. By 1973, this plant was producing the K81, K70, and eventually the K88 motorcycle tires.

Fast track to March of 1978, a Dunlop K181 built in that same Tonawanda plant won a tire shoot-out conducted by Harley-Davidson in San Antonio, Texas, which would solidify its future and change the course of history for the brand and the people designing and building tires at the Tonawanda plant. That shootout win started a relationship with Harley-Davidson that eventually led to Dunlop being awarded the Original Equipment tire business for 1981 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles. This partnership has lasted over four decades with the two companies collaborating on numerous tire innovations, including things we take for granted, like wide white walls and multi-tread touring motorcycle tires.

Today, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires remains the largest motorcycle tire manufacturer headquartered and fully operational within the United States. In addition, many of Dunlop’s popular tires, like the American Elite, D401, D402, D407, D408, Sportmax Q5, Sportmax Q5S, Trailmax Mission, and many more are produced in the same footprint that started production in 1973.

Can-Am Motorcycle Videos Celebrate Brand’s 50-year History and Its Electric Future

The first Can-Am motorcycle was launched in 1973, a motocross bike that saw immediate success in motocross and endurance racing. Can-Am, a subsidiary of Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) based in Valcourt, Canada, built off-road motorcycles until 1987. It launched a line of ATVs in 1998, and in 2007, it launched its first on-road vehicle: the three-wheeled Spyder RS.

Can-Am celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and it has launched a series of short videos to highlight the brand’s legacy and provide a glimpse into its future, which will include two all-electric motorcycles for 2024, the Origin dual-sport and Pulse streetbike.
