EICMA 2022: Royal Enfield Drops the Super Meteor 650

Finally, Royal Enfield has given us a new middleweight cruiser beauty – and she’s touting a new look to add to those long bones. 

According to Royal Enfield’s official press release, the Super Meteor 650 and Super Meteor 650 Tourer show off the popular 648cc parallel-twin engine, capable of 34.6kW (47PS, or roughly 46hp) @ 7250rpm 52.3Nm @ 5650rpm.

This platform is the same that took off to huge success in the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650, with the addition of feet-forward foot controls and wide pulled-back handlebars to complement the suspension (a 43mm upside-down telescopic fork with 120mm of travel, and preload-adjustable twin shocks with 101mm of travel at the rear) and 29.1” seat height.

Single-disc brakes with floating calipers ride on a 19” front tyre and 16” rear, which in turn show off a scalloped saddle aiming to emulate ‘the very best of British cruiser,” made all the more functional with LED headlights, new engine cases, a neat TBT navigation system. 

In short, we’ve got a 241kg (with 90% fuel & oil) beauty capable of a relaxed, part-throttle experience on the highways of our good country – and nobody is more proud of the brand’s achievements than RE’s CEO, B Govindarajan.

The 2023 Honda lineup is in, including 11 returning models from five categories and the new “bagger” Rebel 1100 trim level. 

In 2023, we’ll see the return of sportbikes like the CBR1000RR, the touring-focused NC750X, the classic Shadow Aero and Shadow Phantom, miniMOTOs like the Super Cub and Monkey, and more. 

The highlight of Honda’s 2023 lineup is the “bagger” Rebel, the 2023 Rebel 1100T DCT. With a dual-clutch transmission, wind protection, and extra cargo space offered in the new hard-shell saddlebags, this model puts a different spin on Honda’s new-school cruiser platform.

And for those who love the Rebel just as it is, the Rebel 1100 will still be available in its non-bagger form, in both manual and dual-clutch transmission versions.

Honda introduced the Rebel 1100 two years ago, a bigger-displacement cruiser modeled after the successful Rebel 300 and 500. It’s a capable and comfortable all-around cruiser featuring a liquid-cooled, 1083cc, parallel-Twin engine available with either a manual transmission or DCT (dual-clutch transmission).

The new “T” trim marks the beginning of the “bagger” Rebel, only available with DCT. The Rebel 1100T DCT comes standard with a windscreen and hard-shell saddlebags with a combined 35 liters of space, making it even more practical for longer rides.

The 2023 Honda Rebel 1100T DCT will come in Metallic Black or Bordeaux Red Metallic starting at $11,299. The Rebel 1100 DCT will come in Iridium Gray Metallic or Green Metallic starting at $10,099. And the Rebel 1100 will start at $9,499 for Iridium Gray Metallic or Green Metallic.

2023 Honda Rebel 500 & Rebel 300

The Rebel 500 and 300 return as Honda’s most approachable and affordable entry-level cruiser models. The 500 comes with a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-Twin engine, while the 300 has a 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. These models provide a relaxed riding position with a classic-meets-modern aesthetic.

Both models are available in standard and ABS versions, and the Rebel 500 ABS SE includes numerous add-ons like a diamond-stitched seat and a headlight cowl. Both models also feature a peanut fuel tank, LED lighting, and blacked-out engine components.

The Shadow Aero returns with its large front fender, chrome headlights, a low-slung seat, spoked wheels, swept-back twin exhausts, and a 745cc V-Twin engine. The Aero has a retro look but comes with modern technology like fuel injection and ABS. It will be available in February 2023.

With eight World Supersport titles, the CBR600RR is a tried-and-true supersport. Two sets of injectors per cylinder ensure both low- and high-rpm performance, while the Honda Electronic Steering Damper detects vehicle speed and adjusts damping to stable handling. The 4.8-gallon fuel tank is centered and low in the frame, allowing for a compact design and making the bike more responsive to rider input.

The CBR300R is light weight at 316 lb wet and features standard ABS, blacked-out engine components, and a cafe style. New for 2023 is a gear-position indicator on the LED instrument panel.

Honda built the NC750X to create a motorcycle that can “do it all and do it well.” This commuter bike features a liquid-cooled, SOHC 8-valve parallel-Twin engine, a large front storage compartment big enough to store most helmets, an upright riding position, and a dual-clutch transmission. It also features the Honda Selectable Torque Control, allowing riders to choose between some rear-wheel spin for gravel and dirt or reduced spin for slippery roads.

2023 Indian Motorcycle Lineup | First Look Review

The new 2023 FTR Sport will replace the FTR S. Available in Black Metallic with Indy Red accents for $15,749 and White Lightning with Indy Red and Black Metallic accents (shown) for $15,999.

Indian Motorcycles has announced updates to its 2023 lineup, including a new FTR model and other FTR revisions, plus details about the premium Challenger Elite model, and other upgrades across the board. Here’s a first look at the 2023 Indian models and new upgrades.

2023 Indian FTR Lineup

New for 2023 is the FTR Sport, a model that replaces the FTR S. This FTR sits just below the premium FTR R Carbon but above the FTR and FTR Rally. The FTR Sport features a new tank-panel design, a sporty chin fairing, and a seat cowl. It will be available in Black Metallic with Indy Red accents for $15,749 and White Lightning with Indy Red and Black Metallic accents for $15,999.

The FTR Sport will share a new 4-inch round touchscreen display with the FTR R Carbon model, offering navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Both bikes will come standard with three ride modes (Sport, Standard, and Rain), lean-angle-sensitive ABS, stability control, traction control, wheelie and rear-lift mitigation, a USB charge port, and cruise control. The FTR and FTR Rally come standard with ABS and cruise control.

The FTR R Carbon separates itself from the rest of the FTR lineup with carbon fiber components, a premium seat, fully adjustable Öhlins gold front forks, and a gold piggyback shock. It is also the only model with the Indian script logo tank panels and finished with Cloud Siler and Championship Gold pinstriping.

All four FTR models will feature a sportier muffler and a retuned front braking system. The speedometer has been moved up on all FTRs for easier viewing, and a new clutch has been implemented, which Indian says provides improved feel and performance.

2023 Indian Challenger Elite

The 2023 Challenger Elite in Sapphire Blue Smoke Paint with Black Smoke and Titanium Metallic Smoke accents will be limited to 150 units with an MSRP of $35,999.

Indian began its Elite program in 2017 with the Chieftain Elite. Since then, Indian’s Elite motorcycles, limited to 150-200 units for each bike, feature all the premium options available along with a unique look. In 2022, we saw the first Challenger Elite, limited to 200 units. The 2022 Challenger Elite featured Stealth Gray and Black Metallic paint with Indy Red accents, inspired by American muscle cars.

For 2023, Indian has announced it will be offering 150 units of the 2023 Challenger Elite in Sapphire Blue Smoke Paint with Black Smoke and Titanium Metallic Smoke accents. For this premium bike with a unique look, you’re looking at $35,999.

The Challenger Elite will have the same PowerPlus 108ci engine with 122 hp and 128 ft-lb of torque that you’ll find in other Challengers, but the Elite is packed with all the top-notch options and extras. Those extras include three ride modes, Fox adjustable rear suspension, smart lean technology, an LED headlight and driving lights, an adjustable flare windscreen, select footboards, heated grips, a new precision-cut five-spoke wheel, and Powerband audio with saddlebag speakers.

At $10,000 over the price of a regular Challenger, the 2023 Challenger Elite is packed to the gills with premium features, a marketing strategy similar to Harley-Davidson’s CVO line.

Other Updates Across the Board

The 2023 lineup will feature a host of upgrades and paint colors across the board.

All Thunderstroke and PowerPlus models will receive a new clutch, said the reduce engine drag and provide a smoother down shift. The new clutch has a larger friction zone and decreased lever effort for reduced clutch fatigue.

The PowerPlus models will get integrated buttons on the heated seats, and Thunderstroke models will feature haptics, allowing riders to feel the button’s response when wearing gloves. The Springfield, Chieftain, Challenger, Roadmaster, and Pursuit models will get a redesigned LED headlight with a larger reach and spread.

All models with the 4-inch round touchscreen display will now be able to tie their Ride Command account from the Indian Motorcycle app or website to their bike. This will give riders access to features like vehicle health, vehicle locator, and ride tracking.

2023 Ducati Diavel V4 | First Look Review

The Ducati Diavel has seen some dramatic evolutions since the power cruiser was introduced in 2011. The Diavel originally featured a 1198cc Testastretta L-twin that made a claimed 162 hp. In 2016, Ducati introduced the XDiavel, with more conventional cruiser styling and ergonomics and a new 1,262cc Testastretta L-twin offering more low-end torque, and in 2019, Ducati released the best-of-both-worlds Diavel 1260.

This year, Ducati is changing the Diavel game again with the introduction of the 2023 Ducati Diavel V4, featuring the 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine making a claimed 168 hp and 93 lb-ft of torque.

Ducati says the V4 Granturismo is “the ideal engine for a muscle cruiser, capable of combining linear power at lower revs with vigorous torque throughout the rev range,” adding that the Diavel V4 should appear to a wide variety of riders, “from the sports enthusiast looking for a more comfortable and stylish bike to those looking to ride in an urban and relaxed setting to the lover of performance and drag racing iconography.”

From a visual standpoint, the Diavel V4 continues to offer the mix of conventional yet still muscular styling characteristic of the 2011 bike. Ducati says the bike was inspired by the look of muscle cars and superhero aesthetics and results in a style reminiscent of “an athlete ready to sprint off the starting blocks, with all the masses concentrated on the front and an agile, streamlined tail.”

The V4 Granturismo engine is a central element of the Diavel V4’s design. Ducati says this technical choice simultaneously improves performance, dynamics, and riding pleasure as a result of a counter-rotating crankshaft, which reduces the gyroscopic effect while increasing the bike’s agility. The light and compact V4 Granturismo derives from the Desmosedici Stradale of Panigale and Streetfighter V4.

The V4 Granturismo is also characterized by low operating costs, with major maintenance at 37,000-mile intervals, and is efficient in fuel consumption and emissions due to the extended cylinder deactivation system. This feature allows the engine to operate as either a two-cylinder or four-cylinder by shutting off the rear bank not only when the vehicle is stationary but also while riding at low engine speeds under reduced engine load.

Compared with the Diavel 1260 S, the 2023 Diavel V4 has shaved 28.6 lb off the curb weight for a total dry weight of 491.6 lb.

The Diavel V4 has an inverted 50mm fork and a cantilever-pattern shock absorber, both fully adjustable. Travel has been increased by 0.6 inch over the outgoing model. The supersport-like braking system features 330mm discs and Brembo Stylema calipers.

The bike has a wide and low seat (31.1 inch), central footpegs, and a high handlebar set 0.78 inch closer than on the Diavel 1260, and passengers ride on a spacious seat, footrests that retract under the tail, and a telescoping rear grab bar. With the retractable aspects of footrests and the grab bar, the easily installed standard passenger seat allows the Diavel V4 to be transformed from a two-seater to a single-seater with minimal effort.

The Diavel V4 comes with three power modes and four ride modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, and the new Wet mode, designed for low-traction surfaces. Riding aid systems include a 6-axis IMU, Ducati Traction Control in Cornering version, ABS Cornering, and Ducati Wheelie Control, as well as Cruise Control, Launch Control, and Ducati Quick Shift.

All the electronic systems are managed through backlit controls on the handlebar and the new 5-inch color TFT display, which also offers Bluetooth connectivity to pair your smartphone for calling, text messaging, and music. An optional turn-by-turn navigation system is also available.

Other options include semi-rigid cases with 48 liters of capacity, a passenger backrest, and a touring windscreen. Billet parts, carbon parts, dry clutch (for racing use only), forged wheels, and red or black brake calipers further expand the possibility of customizing the new Diavel V4. The 2023 Diavel V4 will be offered in classic Ducati Red or Thrilling Black and will be available in U.S. and Canadian dealerships beginning in Spring 2023.

Building on the success of BMW’s naked boxer roadster history, which started with the 1923 494cc boxer-Twin powered R 32, BMW Motorrad is introducing the updated 2023 BMW R 1250 R roadster.

While many things remain the same, including the 1,254cc 2-cylinder air/liquid-cooled boxer engine with ShiftCam technology delivering a claimed 136 hp and 105 ft-lbs of torque, BMW has made several upgrades to the 2023 model – and all for the same $14,995 MSRP as the 2022 model.

Several features that were previously options are now standard, including Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro (part integral), and Dynamic Brake Control. And joining the previous Road and Rain ride modes for 2023 is the “Eco” mode.

In Eco mode, the rider is encouraged to ride as fuel-efficiently as possible, with a soft throttle curve and moderate engine torque limitation. As part of these efforts, the TFT color display provides an efficiency display. However, if a rider wants maximum performance – for example, for overtaking or riding uphill – the ride mode button will switch to a different mode quickly and easily.

Other new features of the 2023 BMW R 1250 R include LED turn indicators, a solo seat rear cover, and new Option 719 spoke wheels (optional).

The 2023 model still features the full LED headlamp but now offers an optional adaptive turning light, which provides better illumination into turns thereby ensuring safer riding at night. The adaptive turning light works by switching on additional LED elements in the main headlight that are fitted with their own reflectors, depending on the lean angle. It is activated from an inclined position of 7 degrees to 25 degrees and a speed of more than 6 mph. New standard features also include redesigned LED Comfort turn.

Last year, Triumph launched the exclusive Bonneville Gold Line collection: eight limited-edition models available for one year only and showcasing the hand-painted gold lining skills of Triumph’s paint shop. Following the success of the Gold Line editions, Triumph announced it is launching a Chrome Line collection, featuring 10 limited-edition models that will also be available for one year only. Triumph says the Chrome Line brings a “unique, bold, and beautiful new take” on the latest generation of Triumph’s modern classic Bonneville lineup and the Rocket 3.

ARCH Motorcycle Launches New 1s Model | First Look Review

After considerable anticipation, ARCH Motorcycle, the Los Angeles-based bespoke production motorcycle company co-founded by designer director Gard Hollinger and actor Keanu Reeves, today announced the official launch of its new ARCH 1s model.

In a press release announcing details of the 1s, ARCH representatives said the bike “represents an evolution helping to define industry categories in the motorcycle world, mixing ARCH’s one-of-a-kind performance cruiser formula with an aggressive riding position to create a Sport Cruiser.”

The ARCH 1s is the second offering from ARCH following the acclaimed KRGT1 model, and it is the company’s first production single-sided swing-arm motorcycle.

The 1s also debuts new mid-controls for a more aggressive riding position and handling, while featuring the 124ci (2,032cc) ARCH/S&S V-twin downdraft fuel injected engine producing a claimed , complemented by an ARCH designed exhaust system, and a carbon fiber fuel cell integrating the air intake and filtration system. In fact, according to the ARCH Motorcycle website, Carbon fiber is used extensively throughout the 1s, providing a lighter, more agile riding experience on a bike with a dry weight of 563 pounds.

Harley-Davidson Unveils the Low Rider El Diablo

Last year, Harley-Davidson launched its limited-edition Icons Collection, which revisits classic models or design themes and reimagines them using contemporary platforms, with the stunning Electra Glide Revival. The Motor Company has unveiled the second model in the collection, the Low Rider El Diablo. It will be a limited one-time build of only 1,500 serialized bikes.  

The Low Rider El Diablo is based on the popular Low Rider ST that mimics the characteristic style of the 1983 FXRT.

“It embodies the spirit of counterculture in Southern California in the ‘80s in a contemporary package that features meticulously crafted custom paint and pinstripe trajectories that nod directly to those of the original FXRT,” said Brad Richards, H-D’s Vice President of Design and Creative Director. 

What makes this limited-edition model pop is the detailed paint scheme hand-applied by the artisans at Gunslinger Custom Paint in Golden, Colorado. Layers of El Diablo Bright Red, Bright Red Sunglo, El Diablo Dark Red, Dark Red Pearl, and El Diablo Dark Red Metallic give this motorcycle a depth of color that makes it stand out from the crowd.  

Harley-Davidson Low Rider El Diablo

The El Diablo is built on Harley-Davidson’s Softail chassis and the Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin powertrain augmented with a Heavy Breather intake and a 2-into-2 offset shotgun exhaust. It’s claimed to produce 125 lb-ft of torque.  

Factory-installed audio fits perfectly within the fairing and is designed for quality sound. Riders can connect the audio to their mobile device to enjoy the 5.25-inch woofers and 250-watt amplifier. The audio features the Automatic Volume Control which adjusts volume based on vehicle speed. 

Like the standard Low Rider ST, El Diablo features lockable and removable clamshell saddlebags with a combined 1.9 cubic feet of storage capacity, a 43mm inverted fork with dual disc front brakes, and Michelin Scorcher tires. Cruise control and ABS are standard equipment. 

The Low Rider El Diablo will reach authorized Harley-Davidson dealers this fall with an MSRP of $27,999, approximately $6,000 more than the standard LR-ST.  

Following the impressive 2021 Electra Glide Revival, which was inspired by the 1969 Electra Glide, the first Harley-Davidson available with an accessory “batwing” fairing, and the 2022 Low Rider El Diablo inspired by the 1983 FXRT, we look forward to seeing what iconic bike Harley plans to revamp in 2023.

Reinventing an icon is never easy, and the Sportster is about as iconic as a motorcycle can get. Introduced in 1957, the Sportster is old enough to qualify for Medicare, and it’s the longest-running model family in the 119-year history of Harley-Davidson.

When the Motor Company introduced the Sportster S for 2021, its name was the only thing it had in common with previous Sportsters. Its model designation was RH instead of XL. It was liquid-cooled instead of air-cooled. And it was lighter, more powerful, and more modern than the Forty-Eight, the only 1,200cc Evo-powered XL still in Harley’s lineup. With its upswept pipes, mash-up of colors and finishes, and Fat Bob-inspired headlight and chunky tires, the Sportster S was intended to be a radical departure from the past.

The new Nightster, on the other hand, has classic Sportster styling elements. It has an airbox cover that’s shaped like a peanut tank, a round air cleaner cover on the right side of the engine, and dual exposed rear shocks. It has a solo seat and chopped fenders like the Iron 883, a small speed screen like the Iron 1200, and a side cover over the underseat fuel tank that’s reminiscent of a Sportster oil tank. It also takes its name from the Nightster XL1200N, a blacked-out, Evo-powered Sportster built from 2007 to 2012 that was part of Harley’s Dark Custom lineup.

The small speed screen looks cool and helps smooth airflow. Mid-mount controls can create a cramped cockpit for taller riders.

Rev to the Max

The Nightster’s name and styling serve as a bridge to the past. But like the Sportster S and Pan America adventure bike, it’s built on the modular Revolution Max platform that represents Harley-Davidson’s future. Its liquid-cooled, 60-degree RevMax V-Twin has DOHC with four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, and forged aluminum pistons with machined crowns to deliver a 12:1 compression ratio. The RevMax serves as a central, structural element of the chassis, with the trellis front frame, mid frame, and tailsection bolted directly to the engine.

Harley-Davidson has long had 1,200cc and 883cc versions of XL Sportsters in its lineup. Likewise, there are two versions of the RH Sportsters, with the Sportster S displacing 1,252cc (105 x 72mm) and the Nightster displacing 975cc (97 x 66mm). Compared to the Sportster S, the Nightster’s RevMax not only has a smaller bore and a shorter stroke, it uses a single spark plug per cylinder rather than two, and variable valve timing is used only on the intake cam rather than on both the intake and exhaust cams. Claimed output on the Nightster is 90 hp at 7,500 rpm and 70 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, whereas the Sportster S makes 121 hp and 94 lb-ft.

Although the Nightster has a 60-degree vee angle between its cylinders, its two crankshaft connecting rod journals are offset by 30 degrees. This gives the RevMax a firing order and pulse feel like a 90-degree V-Twin. The engine has roller-finger valve actuation, which reduces valve noise, and hydraulic lash adjusters, which eliminate the need for valve adjustments. The variable valve timing advances or retards intake camshaft timing over 40 degrees of crankshaft rotation, which broadens the powerband, improves combustion efficiency, and reduces emissions compared to fixed cam timing.

Located between the cylinders are a pair of 50mm down-draft throttle bodies, and fuel delivery is optimized for each cylinder. Above the engine is a 6.5-liter airbox with tuned velocity stacks that pack air into the combustion chambers for more power, and the airbox has internal ribs that eliminate unwanted resonance and intake noise. The RevMax’s dual counterbalancers reduce primary and secondary vibration as well as rocking couple, but they are tuned to allow enough vibration to deliver a visceral riding experience.

The Nightster is equipped with Harley-Davidson’s Rider Safety Enhancements electronics suite, which includes ABS, traction control, and drag-torque slip control. There is no IMU or lean-angle sensors, so ABS and TC are not lean-angle-adaptive. There are three ride modes (Road, Sport, and Rain) that adjust throttle response, engine braking, ABS, and TC settings.

Take a Seat

“Form follows function, and both report to motion,” declared Harley-Davidson’s VP of Design, Brad Richards, at the Nightster’s press launch. Motorcycles are intended to be ridden, and their design should serve that purpose. But we all know that compromises are made in the name of style. And when it comes to cruisers, many buyers are more concerned with how they look than how they go.

The Nightster, however, balances the scales between curb appeal and riding appeal. The design team went to great lengths to give it a classic Sportster profile, with a 19-inch front wheel paired with a 16-incher out back. Even though it is built on a different platform, the Nightster’s rider triangle is similar to that of other Sportsters, with a low 27.8-inch seat, midmount controls, and a low-rise handlebar. (For those who prefer forward controls, they are available as a $599.95 accessory.) A nice bonus is that both hand levers are adjustable for reach.

With 3 inches of travel for the emulsion-technology shocks and 4.5 inches of travel for the 41mm Showa dual-bending-valve fork, the Nightster’s well-damped suspension provides a comfortable, responsive ride. The only adjustability is rear preload, and a spanner is included under the seat. And with 32 degrees of cornering clearance on either side, a fair amount of lean is possible before chamfering one’s boot soles. Single-disc brakes front and rear with Brembo calipers and steel-braided lines provide plenty of stopping power.

The RevMax is a rev-happy engine – redline is 9,500 rpm – and the 975cc version in the Nightster feels lively and engaging. Giving it the whip through a fast set of curves feels like the right thing to do. How else does one do justice to such a responsive engine and solid chassis? But the Nightster is still a cruiser, just as happy to chug down Main Street at a chill pace.

Details, Details

There’s a good reason we love air-cooled engines. They are elemental, pure, and elegant in their simplicity. Cooling fins look cool, and the lack of a radiator and associated plumbing keeps the engine bay clean and tidy. The performance and emissions advantages of a liquid-cooled engine are undeniable, but let’s face it, not many of them are pleasing to the eye.

The surfaces and finishes on the RevMax make it look muscular and solid, but also somewhat robotic. On the Nightster’s pipe side, everything on the powertrain has its proper place, but the plastic shrouds covering the radiator and oil cooler look like an afterthought. On the kickstand side, there are unsightly wires and hoses between the engine and radiator that even the discontinued Street 750 managed to avoid. Harley-Davidson is known for its attention to detail, and on its Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight it went to great pains to hide the evidence of liquid cooling. As good as the RevMax engine is, aesthetic appeal is its biggest challenge.

There’s also unattractive exposed wiring around the handlebar, and the switchpods next to both grips are bulbous with cheap-looking buttons. Perhaps it is because Harley-Davidson has previously set such high benchmarks for fit and finish that these deviations stick out like sore thumbs.

Otherwise, the Nightster looks sharp. Like the original XL1200N Nightster, bright work is minimized, with the only chrome found on the fork stanchions. The seven-spoke wheels are finished in Satin Black, and the 2-in-1 exhaust is matte black. The black speed screen is both stylish and functional, and the single round instrument gauge is handsome and user-friendly. All the lighting is LED, and the rear turnsignals double as brake lights.

There’s a sharp contrast between the clean, tidy pipe side of the Nightster and its unfinished-looking kickstand side. It’s often called the “B” side for a reason.

In its early days, the Sportster developed a reputation as a hot rod because it offered more horsepower and less weight than most of its competitors. Over the years, however, that reputation faded, and the Sportster came to be regarded as a venerable member of the old guard rather than the vanguard.

Thanks to the RevMax platform, the Sportster S and Nightster have reclaimed a reputation for performance. The Sportster S is more powerful, more radically styled, and has higher-spec components and electronics, while the Nightster is more familiar, more accessible, and has stronger links to the long history of Sportsters. Both are taking Harley-Davidson in a bold new direction.
