A revised contract with Penrite Honda Racing will see Luke Clout stay put in the 250SX West category of Monster Energy Supercross for the remainder of the season, prompting him to withdraw from the MX Nationals.

Clout, who was runner-up in the MX Nationals last year, was initially contracted to race the first six rounds of Supercross before returning home to contest the domestic motocross series with Penrite Honda Racing.

The New South Welshman’s impressive form in America, along with his desire to remain in the series, has seen his contract revised as supercross-only while also taking him through the 2021 season, where he’ll race Monster Energy Supercross and the Australian Supercross Championship.

“I didn’t know how this would go down,” Clout stated. “I was originally doing three to four rounds out of a van. We seriously setup and full professional program in America – Yarrive [Konsky] doesn’t like doing things by halves and he has really given us the greatest opportunity to prove ourselves.

“To Tony Hinton [at] Honda Australia and Toby Dymond [at] Penrite, I must say thank you. This is my dream and I believe we will only get better. I will be home later this year to race the Australian Supercross Championship.”

Team owner Yarrive Konsky added: “It makes sense to leave Luke in America, he’s getting more comfortable each week on the 250, he is committed to the program here and we hope the momentum will pay off. We have a strong local program back in Australia with Brett Metcalfe and Kyle Webster for motocross, and will announce our full supercross program in the coming months.”

Clout will continue to race alongside Mitchell Oldenburg as part of the team’s US arm, which will return to action at the next 250SX round scheduled for 28 March in Seattle.

Penrite Honda Racing will field Brett Metcalfe and Kyle Webster in the MX Nationals, set to kick off on 4-5 April at Horsham in Victoria.
