Romain Febvre has suffered a suspected broken femur following a crash in race two at the MXGP of Sweden, according to his team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing.

The Frenchman, who charged to second in race one, was battling for the lead when he crashed heavily on a slick section of the circuit with just three laps remaining, where he was ultimately carried off the circuit by the medical crew.

It’s the second injury blow for the former world champion after he sustained a severely broken right ankle at the season-opener in Argentina.

Febvre is named in France’s Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN), scheduled for next month at Assen in The Netherlands, however a broken femur will definitely rule him out of the event. More details to come.
