Evans ‘felt a lot stronger’ in Uddevalla top 10

Australian bounces back for seventh overall at MXGP of Sweden.

Overcoming injuries in recent months, Australian Mitch Evans admits he ‘felt a lot stronger’ in Sunday’s pair of motos at the MXGP of Sweden, where he charged to seventh overall.

The weekend’s grand prix somewhat marked a return to form the for the Team Honda 114 Motorsports rider, who has encountered difficulty in bouncing back from multiple injuries, recording an improved 11-7 scorecard for seventh in the overall classification.

“On Saturday I had the speed of most other riders in the first couple of laps, but I struggled a little find a flow,” Evans explained. “I finally found my flow and maintained my positions in the races.

“On Sunday I felt a lot stronger – my eye was in the race a lot more today and I really wanted to be out there. I was enjoying the track because it was rougher and more technical, so it was a good day overall and I was able to hold my position well in the races.”

Evans is currently ranked 11th in the MX2 World Championship standings after missing three rounds, while the series is due to visit Turkey for the next stop on the calendar, scheduled on 8 September.
