An eight-round 2021 ProMX Australian Motocross Championship calendar will commence in April, Motorcycling Australia (MA) has confirmed as potential locations to feature in the inaugural series have surfaced.

While the sport’s governing body continues to release light-on information in regards to the inaugural series, information has been more widespread behind the scenes within the industry.

Venues linked to the series behind closed doors currently include Wonthaggi, Albury, Gillman, Canberra, QMP, Mackay and Coolum, however the changing landscape of could see further revisions made before a final schedule is formally released. There will be eight rounds across seven events, with a single double-header planned.

MA has only announced at this moment that ProMX will launch on 11 April and run through until mid-August, which is a similar window to what the previous MX Nationals series had operated within over the course of the past decade. It appears that Wonthaggi in Victoria will be host of the season-opener and Coolum could continue as the traditional finals, however, confirmation is yet to arrive.

“There has been significant work undertaken by the ‘ProMX Management Team’ over many months to secure the right locations and venues, to create the best possible ProMX championship calendar for 2021,” commented MA CEO Peter Doyle.

“Locking in the 2021 calendar is a critical step forward in the preparation for a not to be missed ProMX championship. We know teams are eager to go racing and motocross fans are eager to see the fierce action on track that the ProMX championship will deliver.”

MA has indicated that the official calendar could be released late next week, with ‘new event formats and schedules’ to be introduced as part of the organiser’s push to bring in a successful new era of the Australian Motocross Championship.
