Rounds seven and eight of the 2020 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) in Victoria have been cancelled by Motorcycling Australia (MA), reducing the series to just four events if it is to restart in October.

Following the recent cancellation of Nowra, the AORC was due to resume on 19-20 September at Omeo, but a second wave of coronavirus and subsequent border closures have made it impossible to go ahead as planned.

“Due to the recent announcement of lockdown in Victoria and the spike in cases in Victoria and NSW, as well as the state border restrictions, unfortunately this has made the event impossible to go ahead,” a statement confirmed. “AORC will continue to monitor state government COVID-19 restrictions and their potential impacts this may have on the current remaining 2020 championship dates.”

The next event scheduled on the AORC calendar is Wynyard in Tasmania, currently scheduled to be held between 17-18 October. Rounds 11 and 12 of the series remain at a location to be confirmed, pencilled in for 14-15 November as the series’ back-up date.

2020 Australian Off-Road Championship calendar (revised):

Rds 3-4 – 14-15 March – Dungog, New South Wales
Rds 5-6 – Cancelled
Rds 7-8 – Cancelled
